Arconic is seeking a Process Specialist - Extrusions to join our Aluminum Extrusion (AEX) business unit in Lafayette, IN.

Essential Functions: The Process Specialist - Extrusions within AEX requires technical and interpersonal skills essential to teamwork. Major duties include but are not limited to:

  • Utilizing internal company and external training resources, become the subject matter expert on the site’s aluminum extrusion process.
  • Develop and track critical variables to analyze and report on extrusion press performance.
  • Analyze and implement known company extrusion best practices.
  • Assist in performing troubleshooting of the extrusion press as required.
  • Define, develop, and execute capital investment projects in support of the extrusion press and associated ancillary equipment.
  • Assist in improving operator and maintenance technician level of knowledge on extrusion press operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Be willing to participate in external training opportunities, including hydraulics fundamentals, basic PLC troubleshooting, OEM equipment specific training, and other identified training opportunities.
  • Be willing to assume a leadership role within the extrusion department to set and maintain standards of operation and safety.
  • Other duties as required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing/industrial setting.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR), which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. Green Card Holder), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Aluminum extrusion experience
  • Troubleshooting experience in an industrial setting
  • Understanding of hydraulic systems.
  • Ability to read and understand P&IDs.
  • Project management experience, including development of capital expenditure projects.
  • Ability to write clear problem definitions and job scopes.
  • Ability to analyze complex systems and render clear and organized interpretation.
  • Experience troubleshooting PLCs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven organizational, communication, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills.
