About the Team:
Strategic Sourcing works with the business to meet their supplier and purchasing needs through the full lifecycle of the relationship with the goal of maximizing commercial value, selecting suppliers aligned with Mizuho standards, ensuring service and product quality, and optimizing expense management. The function is part of the Corporate Strategy and Administration division and contains both Sourcing and Purchasing teams supporting the Americas region. Mizuho Americas has achieved sustained growth and procurement needs to evolve and transform alongside the business. Investments into the function will be central to helping procurement scale as well as developing a productive supplier ecosystem.
Role Overview:
The Procurement Transformation Lead - VP role is critical to growing the impact of the Strategic Sourcing function and supporting the overall Mizuho Business aspiration of being a top tier corporate and investment bank. The role holder will report to the Head of Strategic Sourcing with two core areas of responsibility which are (1) to provide oversight and set strategic direction for Purchasing within the region and (2) drive evolution of the end-to-end procurement lifecycle in Mizuho Americas.
Key Responsibilities:

Drive transition and transformation in expansion of purchasing platform across the region and increase spend under Purchase Order by collaborating with Finance, Technology and COOs

Lead initiative to determine strategic procurement enterprise processes and steer technology platform assessment for regional Procurement Lifecycle recommendations

Provide oversight of Purchasing Operations, serve as escalation point for department’s managed service

Continuously improve productivity and efficiency of processes throughout the organization including directing technology enhancements

Drive systematically linking of Sourcing activity with purchasing, streamlining the end-to-end process

Contribute thought leadership and coordinate with internal stakeholders to determine purchasing needs

Evolve enterprise-wide purchasing policies and procedures and develop processes to ensure compliance across the organization

Develop purchasing operational metrics, performance goals and develop control targets with Accounts Payable
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in purchasing with experience in numerous methodologies and procurement platforms. The candidate will have experience in transformation and being able to balance process design and controls with enabling business and minimizing bureaucracy.

Track record of delivering Procurement change in large, complex financial institutions

Broad understanding of internal business operating structures and experience in process engineering

Strong business, analytical, quantitative, problem-solving and decision making skills

Stakeholder management skills including experience at leading change across multiple functions

Experience developing presentations in PowerPoint to communicate and influence stakeholders

Ability to manage projects by establishing clear goals and accountabilities to ensure successful delivery (on time, within budget, meeting agreed upon success criteria)

Relationship management skills to develop strong partnerships across the organization

Strong communication skills: both written and oral with technical and non-technical staff

Must be able to work as a team member & independently

Demonstrates tolerance and understanding in a multi-cultural environment
The expected base salary ranges from $121,000 - $184,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
