Caterpillar is hiring a Product Performance Engineer in our Earthmoving division! In this role, you will be providing information to dealers and engineering teams on field issues, providing feedback as the Tier 2 for the dealer solution network. Within this role you will become familiar with the products and travel to dealerships and locations where the product is being used to enable building customer relationships and understanding of issues. You will analyze problems from the root cause and develop solutions with engineering teams, continuous product improvement (CPI) teams and parts service teams. You will also be responsible for doing field follow visits for new product introduction (NPI) programs. This role will also be responsible for endurance machines at both the Peoria and Tucson proving grounds.

You can expect to build your leadership skills as you leverage your product expertise, process partner building and being a mentor for Tier I Dealer Solution Engineers. This position provides an individual with a strong foundational step within the product group for advancement potential into design, quality, value chain, supply chain or commercial opportunities.

Job Duties:

  • Ensure that relevant details of Service Requests (SR) are documented, (i.e. serial number, dealer details, product problem description, escalation, resolution)

  • Investigate SRs and document in Dealer Solutions Network (DSN) system (i.e. CPI Event Logger, SISWeb, TMI, and Rastar).

  • Lead contact for commercial/field issues on covered models/product

  • Observe and report emerging Motor Grader issues found through the DSN

  • Escalate the inquiries, when needed, to subject matter experts and/or process partners

  • Facilitate problem resolution between dealer and internal Caterpillar personnel

  • Reopen and/or review issues with dealers as appropriate

  • Provide support to the DSN to meet corporate quality and velocity targets for DSN performance

  • Provide training to internal/external teams as required

  • Travel to the field as required to resolve product issues

  • Properly interpret and provide input to improve adherence to DSN Best Practices

Basic Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of engineering or product support experience

  • Experience working with dealers on technical issues

  • Experience working with engineering systems

  • Experience working with product support literature or dealer information systems

  • Experience with Operating and Maintenance manuals

  • Bachelor’s degree

Additional Details:

  • Preferred Work Locations: Peoria or Decatur, IL; however other locations within the U.S. and within commuting distance (50 miles) to a Caterpillar facility may be considered

  • Relocation assistance is not available

  • Travel is up to 15%

Compensation and Benefits:

Base salary for this role ranges from $91,896 to $137,844. Actual salary will be based on experience. The total rewards package, beyond base salary includes:
