Where the Chemistry Happens
As a Product Registration Manager, you will be responsible for the development and implementation of strategies to obtain, maintain, and defend U.S. registration of pesticide active ingredients and end use products. You will lead cross-functional teams on technically challenging projects that develop data supporting North American pesticide registrations and lead projects through US EPA registration review. The Product Registration Manager will represent BASF by participating in FIFRA-related industry meetings/committees.
This position can be located in RTP, NC (Agriculture Solutions (AP) Headquarters), Washington DC, and/or remote within the US. The successful candidate must be available to travel across the US including to AP Headquarters, as needed.

Leveraging your bachelor’s degree or higher in agriculture, agronomy, or a related field as well as your experience in the AgChem, Pharmaceutical, or Life Science industry, you will lead cross-functional project teams that develop data supporting North American registration of pesticidal products as well as develop and implement strategies to achieve U.S. registration.

Based on your comprehensive working knowledge of FIFRA, with a proven track record for successfully registering pesticide and pesticidal products, you will lead strategy development to overcome difficult or unexpected situations and conduct complex analysis based on incomplete and uncertain facts. In addition, you will deal with fluctuating guidelines, policies and agency personnel changes that can make estimating registration approval timelines and requirements very difficult.

Utilizing your excellent project management and organizational skills you will lead cross-functional teams to develop regulatory dossiers for U.S. EPA and international regulatory authorities according to US and globally harmonized guidelines. You will also provide regulatory support and service to internal technical and business teams, company customers, and sub-registrants.

Your outstanding communication and negotiation skills will serve you well as you negotiate internally to gain buy-in on regulatory strategies and innovative registration approaches, but also externally to put forth convincing arguments to regulatory authorities for timely registrations or to overcome objections and technical hurdles.

Based on your ability to find new solutions where principles, guidelines and targets are partly or only broadly defined, you will lead projects of strategic importance to the organization. This will include developing strategies for registration of new active ingredients or adding new uses to existing products. In addition, you will advise North American business teams on regulatory issues impacting company sales and profit and explore alternative regulatory strategies that can benefit the business.

Your independent decision making on projects of moderate complexity will be a great asset as you will engage in EPA regulatory activities through interactions in industry groups and agency associations, as well as make decisions on complex situations based on experience and with concurrence of management.

Must have comprehensive working knowledge of FIFRA with a proven track record for successfully registering pesticide active ingredients. Experience with US registration of herbicide active ingredients and end use products and/or an agronomic background is preferred.

Successful development of regulatory strategies to obtain, maintain and defend active ingredient and product registrations with Federal and State regulatory authorities.

Demonstrated the ability to lead and actively participate in multi-company task forces and industry trade association committees.

Excellent Project Management skills and experience leading cross-functional project teams on technically challenging projects.

Demonstrated effective and influential communication and negotiation skills to all levels and audiences, internally (project teams to Executive management) and externally with Regulatory Authorities and NGOs.

In-depth understanding of: US EPA Registration Processes including EFED and HED risk assessments; FIFRA regulations; Regulatory issues impacting the US Pesticide Markets and emerging global regulatory trends (e.g. Endangered Species Act, Application technology, NGO legal challenges, pollinator restrictions, global trade constraints, etc.).
