JOB SUMMARY:
You will lead Product Development Innovation and Renovation projects for our Chilled and Frozen Category, specifically focused on our Frozen Meals business. You have the ability to lead the delivery of innovative, ambitious, competitive products to drive impactful business results.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Senior Product Development/Project Management Specialist you will use your strong management/leadership, stakeholder management, communication & presentation skills, as well as a high level of culinary competency, deep technical understanding and scientific knowledge to deliver innovative products and technologies. This role leads and plays a critical partnership role in some exciting work at Nestlé, specific to our Frozen Meals Brands in the US.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
Project Management/Leadership:
  • Lead cross-functional team (Quality Assurance, Engineering, sensory, etc.) to deliver projects meeting set key success criteria.
  • People development: Promote a collaborative team building approach. Establishing a climate where people can perform at their best.
  • Ability to effectively manage time, budget and resource allocation related to projects and project planning.
  • Effectively manage key stakeholders, including the ability to communicate and manage risks and opportunities of the project.
  • Results focused and the ability to drive problem solving activities.
  • Incorporate knowledge of food manufacturing facility practices and lead projects following Nestlé standards (safety, legal compliance, GMP, USDA, etc.) including appropriate documentations (experimental reports, trials, technical plan, specification etc.)
  • Ability to incorporate a Nestlé Health & Wellness and sustainability mindset and reference within the project.
  • Adhere to guidelines of intellect assets for projects in collaboration with patent attorney.
Product Developer/Technical Knowledge
  • Demonstrated proficient product development skills with the ability to creativity assess technology/ingredients.
  • Proven examples of an innovation and entrepreneurial mindset. The ability to evaluate new technologies to impact new product, improved products or processes, and recognize synergy across the group to effectively utilize technology resources.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of analytical testing, statistics, sensory testing in the process of developing of new products.
  • Connect and consult with ingredient supplier and equipment vendors. Propose new materials/processes/equipment that deliver new benefits and in line with project objectives.
  • Plan and coordinate pilot plant, manufacturing plant tests, scaling up from lab to Pilot plant to final industrial scale.
  • Network with specialists of the same area and within Nestlé and NPTC FOOD. Partner and work collaboratively with various businesses, to deliver important science and technology to support project progress.
  • Understand category trends, consumer insights, and keep abreast of competitive activities both commercial and technical.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, and Knowledge):
  • Master’s Degree or PhD. in Food Science and technology, Food Engineering, Agriculture, Chemistry or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of Food industry experience in a product development or research and development role.
  • Proven project management and organizational skills.
SKILLS:
  • Demonstrated project management and leadership skills, ability to influence at multiple levels.
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation communication skills
  • Demonstrate ability to lead multiple and complex projects in cross-functional environment, while delivering significant business results.
  • Proficiency in digital tools and analytics such as Power BI preferred
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to initiate and execute projects that include interfacing with marketing, operations, engineering, suppliers and product development
  • Ability to be agile, change direction and priority when needed.
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 20%.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
A proactive independent person and is able to lead/manage/complete projects with minimal supervision. Creative and innovative with a sense of urgency and passion. There will be at least two formal meetings with the supervisor to evaluate the progress toward the goals. There is also the opportunity to work closely with other members of the team for guidance. There will be formal training sessions set up for all new comers to Nestle as well as specific courses required as an R&D employee. The supervisor will set up a training plan, and it is the responsibility of the individual to execute the plan.

SUPERVISION GIVEN:
This individual does not have any direct reports but should be able to lead/mentor team members in projects that he/she is leading.
