Where the Chemistry Happens

We are seeking a professional like you to join our Care Chemicals division supporting our Surfactants Operations & Technology team at our Geismar, LA site. You will be a key component to provide technical support when needed in order to execute the required production plan.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

As a Production Engineer you create chemistry by…

• Being responsible for critical PSM/RMP/RCMS elements and processes, MOC’s, PSSR’s, Interlock and Bypass Procedures, Safe Work Permit, Lockout Tagout, Operational Procedures, Confined Space, Employee Participation, and Hot Work.
• You will use your technical knowledge to learn the Surfactants operations in a timely manner. You will also learn the cGMP requirements for all the products we manufacture, ensuring our processes meet CGMP requirements as outlined in our cGMP processes including batch sheets. You will be responsible for batch sheet reviews for all regulated products that are manufactured.
• Providing technical support and troubleshooting expertise to the Daily Operational Team for plant problems that occur.
• Engaging with the broader Surfactants team to develop and execute continuous improvement projects, as well as working closely with the technology team to develop and execute capital projects. You may also fill the role as manufacturing representative on capital projects.
• Being responsible for all aspects of operations, EHS, maintenance and quality for your assets. You will be the focal point for all areas as it pertains to the assets you are assigned, and you will provide technical and leadership support in root cause failure analysis for production, EHS, and Quality Incidents.
• Coordinating with production leadership, supply chain planning and Maintenance team in the scheduling / execution of maintenance work (SIS, PSV, NDE inspections, OCI’s, etc.) and outage work to minimize the impact to the business and or production plan.
• Assisting the Asset Effectiveness team in the assignment of lost production via AE tool. You will also develop plans to optimize the unexpected losses and scheduled downtime for the Surfactants equipment.

• Having earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in an Engineering Field (Chemical Engineering preferred) and related experience
• Having technical knowledge
• Strong attention to detail and teamworking abilities
• Excellent analytical and organizational skills
