Production Scheduler Job at Cleveland-Cliffs

Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an immediate opportunity for a Production Planner at our Butler, PA facility. The Production Planner will develop production schedules and make applications of material to orders. This includes working with all functions in Manufacturing Planning, Operations and Customer Service across Cleveland-Cliffs Steel facilities. Automated and manual systems are used to accomplish the responsibilities associated with this position.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop daily production schedules for operating units which include all of Butler and Zanesville plants aside from Melt Shop and Hot Mill.
  • Coordinate material movement with operations and planning to accomplish schedules. Material movement is both interplant and intraplant.
  • Monitor actual vs. planned production, inter/intraplant material movement, and shipments.
  • Communicate and distribute information to others such as production plans, unit schedules, material movement plans, material expediting requirements, etc.
  • Assist in determining the number of turns required, and timing requirements for unit changeovers, outages, delays, etc.
  • Apply the material to orders following application rules and quality requirements while meeting delivery commitments established for customer service.
  • Assist other Production Planning associates in a cooperative manner on daily job tasks.
  • Assure unit schedules align with all current QSOP/TWI requirements as well as experiments being conducted by research or product development groups.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Computer and math skills.
  • High-level ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Willingness to work weekends on a rotating basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Logistics, Supply Chain, or other Business-related fields
  • 5+ years related to production planning
  • Basic knowledge of plant operations, material flow, production capabilities/capacities, and reporting
  • Knowledge of automated and manual planning systems.
