JOB SUMMARY

Oversees a team of hourly employees in a production building or area and ensures production goals are met and safety guidelines are followed.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Studies production schedules and establishes work hour requirements for completion of job assignment
  • Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to employees, and assigns duties
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists employees in solving work problems
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate employees to achieve work goals
  • Maintains time records through Kronos
  • Requisitions and inspects materials
  • Coordinates with maintenance for setup and adjustment of machines
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments
  • Performs activities of employees supervised when necessary

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • Directly supervises employees in assigned production area(s)
  • Enforces company policies to employees and enforces safety regulations
  • Interviews applicants
  • Trains employees
  • Plans, assigns, and directs work
  • Appraises performance
  • Rewards and disciplines employees
  • Addresses complaints and resolves problems

EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Two year technical or Associate’s degree preferred

EXPERIENCE

  • One year of experience in a leadership role
  • Five years of experience in a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience

SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to lead a team by example
  • Demonstrable high level of integrity
  • Ability to prioritize time and tasks in a fast paced, ever changing environment
  • Proficient with MS Office
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to pass physical examination for use of respirators and Pyro suit
  • Eligible to possess explosives under the Safe Explosives Act of 2003 (as amended) as required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF)
  • Willing to work in an environment that requires a “Safety First” attitude. Must obey all Safety, Health & Environmental rules/regulations prescribed by regulatory agencies that are incorporated into company policy
  • Ability read and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Process Specifications

PHYSICAL AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to handle energetic and non-energetic material
  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
