Overview:
Education and Experience
The Manager of Programs is responsible for managing the network of programs for Hillsdale in DC, including: strategic development events and opportunities, internal and external events that take place at the Kirby Center and the Van Andel Graduate School, assisting with the James Madison Fellowship program and the Hillsdale in DC internship program, and supervising the Program Coordinator.
Responsibilities:Event Management
- Oversee planning and operational preparation for Hillsdale in D.C. and School of Government events, including, but not limited to: advertising, vendor management, emailed invitations, furniture set-up and tear-down, registration, book sales, catering, and delegation of staff duties.
- Maintain general working knowledge and capability to manage audio/visual systems.
- Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled event reports and records of activity.
- Serve as point of contact and host for all external organizations who use HDC event space, evaluation of use proposals and drafting of usage agreements.
- Assist with the planning and execution of the James Madison Fellowship and alumni programming.
- Supervise activities and events outside of office hours, including evenings and some weekends, typically 2-3x/week.
- Create blueprints and run of show documents for events.
- Manage relationship with catering vendors and successfully negotiate catering prices in contracts.
- Create and maintain relationships with various videography and photography services for internal and external events hosted at HDC.
- Work with main campus to review legal documents and resolve outstanding issues for external groups.
- Manage student/intern weekend schedules for graduate school classes.
James Madison Fellowship
- Assist with the annual schedule, including recruiting and admission process, for the James Madison Fellowship program.
- Assist in reviewing applications each admission cycle.
- Schedule interviews with all chosen applicants.
- Draft and send all rejection/acceptance letters to the chosen candidates.
- Plan and direct the off-site retreat weekend (including evenings and weekends spent touring venues outside of the DMV).
- Oversee and attend each monthly salon throughout the year.
- Create annual readers and prepare materials for professors as necessary.
Hillsdale in DC Internship
- Manage intern recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding each semester (spring, summer, fall).
- Serve as the day to day supervisor for all Hillsdale in DC interns.
- Approve monthly hours and intern schedules and responsibilities.
- Market HDC internship through partnerships, internship events, and job fairs.
Program Coordinator
- Oversee daily functions, responsibilities, and success metrics of Program Coordinator.
- Delegate event and program responsibilities to Program Coordinator and ensure all event and facilities maintenance is complete.

Education and Experience
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree. Requires necessary experience in administrative and event planning.
