PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Project Engineer manages key capital and internal improvement projects. Project management responsibilities include the coordination and completion of projects on time within budget and within scope. Oversee all aspects of projects. Set deadlines, assign responsibilities, and monitor and summarize progress of project. Prepare reports for upper management regarding status of project.

The successful candidate will work directly with plant, division and contractor personnel to ensure deliverables fall within the applicable scope and budget. He or she will coordinate with other departments to ensure all aspects of each project are compatible.

Span of Control
: Small teams and/or indirect resources may be assigned to this leader. The primary focus of this position involves managing the workstreams of the various processes or programs as an individual contributor to achieve defined project outcomes. This can include workstreams in capital delivery, materials management, technology innovation, supply chain, product management, operations, human capital, construction, environmental / health and safety, etc. The Project Engineer will work with technical, financial, operational, and maintenance leadership as well as division resources to safely deliver, on-time, on-budget, agreed-upon project outcomes.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of multiple projects
  • Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
  • Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant internal stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Ensure resource availability and allocation
  • Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques
  • Measure performance using appropriate project management tools and techniques
  • Report and escalate to management as needed
  • Manage the relationship with the relevant stakeholders
  • Perform risk management to minimize potential risks
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
  • Meet with all stakeholders to take detailed ordering briefs and clarify specific requirements of each project
  • Delegate project tasks based on junior staff members' individual strengths, skill sets, and experience levels
  • Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals
  • Meet budgetary objectives and make adjustments to project constraints based on financial analysis
  • Develop comprehensive project plans to be shared with Leadership as well as other team members
  • Use and continually develop leadership skills
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science in engineering (Prefer Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical)
  • 3-5 years of experience in Engineering project management role for manufacturing asset capital investments or operational continuous improvements
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Manufacturing, maintenance, or engineering work experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) is a plus
  • Experience with project management software tools

  • Demonstrated track record of driving results in difficult situations and implements strategies in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Proven track record in facilitating diverse groups thru influence leadership
  • Ability to lead up and down within the organization and drive critical decision-making
  • Effective communicator, ability to clearly articulate project objectives and outcomes at all levels of the organization and drive with simplicity and clarity.
