Industrial Bridge Crane – Project Manager

POSITION SUMMARY The project manager is responsible for delivering projects for customized material handling equipment and related services that operate in various industrial environments. The individual leads and influences the project team, with authority and responsibility from leadership, to run the project on a day to day bases from its inception to customer acceptance.

PRIMARY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Ensures that the Scope of Supply is clearly and completely defined, check that the project data is accurately entered in the ERP tool, establish project folder, and check that all the appropriate project documentation has been distributed to all internal and external stake holders.
  • Reviews project technical specifications, develops and maintains project schedule.
  • Reviews and coordinates project activities, organizes hand off meetings for the project stages.
  • Controls, monitors and organizes technical documentation to meet the Quality Program requirements.
  • Communicates with the customer providing project progress reports, prepare and submits change orders.
  • Ensures that the project documentation is updated consistent with the project execution.
  • Participates in the vendor and project contractors' review and approval activities which include site visits, audits and Quality Assurance programs.
  • Organizes project as kick-off meetings, and participate in internal and external project status meetings.
  • Prepares and presents periodic production and commercial project progress.
  • Manages project risks, including the development of contingency plans.
  • Managing proper project administration including but not limited to stage/gate checklist validation
  • Ensuring lessons are learned and applied to future projects
  • Liaison with project team members to assure the overall direction and integrity of the project
  • Provides customer service and warranty support as required
EDUCATION, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Engineering or Technical Degrees are preferred, but applicants demonstrating equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • Experience working in an equipment manufacturing environment required.
  • 2 to 5 years Project Management experience.  Reading Mechanical and Electrical drawings experience required.
  • Strong communicator both verbal and written; will interface with customers on a routine basis.
  • Ability to understand technical specifications and contract documents (RFQ, PO, T&C's) with experience identifying clarification and exception responses.
  • Knowledge of Overhead Cranes' structural, mechanical, electrical (power & control) design is a plus.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word) and MS Project.
  • AutoCAD / SolidWorks computer skills is a plus.
  • Experience preparing cost estimate and proposals a plus.
  • Electrical or mechanical aptitude is desired.
  • Follow safety rules and keeps work area in a clean & orderly condition.
Working conditions

  • Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
  • Ability and desire to manage projects beyond traditional working hours as required.
