Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Job at North Shore Community Health
North Shore Community Health (NSCH) is an industry leader in exceptional delivery of community healthcare. We have an opening for a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA). Under the supervision of the Director of Behavioral Health, the psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP)/Physician Assistant, in collaboration with the supervising psychiatrist, will provide continuing and comprehensive health care for the individual and family across all ages and genders. The PMHNP/Physician Assistant will provide direct clinical service to patients, provide clinical supervision to interns and staff, be involved in quality improvement activities, other administrative activities, and help to develop programming as needed. Care may be delivered at any of NSCH locations or virtually via tele-health. As a team member at our health center, you will work with staff who are racially, ethnically and culturally diverse, so being culturally competent is required. A sense of humor is also very important!
Responsibilities
- Works as an integral member of the integrated health care team which includes careful attention to customer service, population management, appropriate delegation and participation in the quality initiatives of the health center.
- Provides for biopsychosocial clinical evaluations, examination, and diagnosis utilizing DSM V diagnoses.
- Collaborates with other providers involved in client care, including nursing, medical providers, behavioral health clinicians, community health workers, social agencies, hospitals, schools, etc.
- Coordinates patient care and serves as a patient advocate.
- Provides psychiatric and psychopharmacology consultation to members of the care team.
- Provides psychopharmacological evaluation and management of patients
- Provides patient and family education
- Seeks professional continuing education to remain current in treatment practice.
- Maintains appropriate and timely medical records on patients under care. Although the NSCHI policy in 2017 is 72 hours, the expectation is for clinically relevant records to be signed and closed within 24 hours.

- Performing additional duties to fulfill NSCH's mission, as assigned..
- The physician, NP or PA will prescribe buprenorphine containing medications as needed for the safe care of patients living with opioid use disorder.

Requirements
- Master’s degree in nursing with certification as a PMHNP or graduate of a certified Physician Assistant program
- Two plus years of experience working as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant preferred
- Current licensure to practice psychiatric nursing in Massachusetts.
- Experience in community health care.
- Must have reliable transportation to travel between sites.
- Preference will be given to bilingual/bicultural individuals who are Spanish or Portuguese.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with commitment to establishing a safe and respectful environment for team members.
- Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment.
- High level of commitment to continuous improvement in the quest for comprehensive and quality health care.
- Completion of NSCH required Compliance Training before the deadline.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $99,000.00 - $107,000.00 per year
