Rising Sun Solar Service Technicians troubleshoot and resolve any system issues. This position is responsible for responding to service dispatch calls and providing thorough diagnostics of all solar components. Upon diagnosis, this position will be responsible for correcting issues and implementing preventative measures to ensure the system is functional.

SCOPE:

  • Responsible for the preventative and corrective maintenance of Photovoltaic (PV) inverters, string boxes and solar panels and other components. Respond to corrective maintenance cases on PV inverters, string boxes and solar panels. This includes troubleshooting, testing, and repairing activities
  • Assist in the commissioning of the solar array and monitoring systems during project installation when needed.
  • Capable of installing hardware, PV modules, inverters and monitoring equipment to ensure the system is setup and operating correctly
  • Perform voltage testing using appropriate PPE and procedures
  • Prepare reports, if needed to comply with deliverables in O&M contracts
  • Attend mandatory training sessions on new products, installation methodology, maintenance and safety
  • Ensure tasks are performed according to organizational requirements for quality management of projects
  • Maintain adherence to company policies and provide thorough documentation for all work
  • Maintain constant communication with Service coordinator regarding progress of dispatch, provide thorough updates in pipedrive. Seek technical help from supervisor when needed.
  • Complete dispatch in efficient and timely manner
  • Communicate with customer of whereabouts and ETA to their home
  • Participate in regular safety practices learns safety protocols to apply at job site and osha standards
  • Maintain a neat and professional appearance, job site and communicates with the customers in a positive manner.
  • Remove and replace panels on solar systems as needed.
  • Identify/isolate roof leaks, basic assessment
  • Maintain documentation of case numbers for troubleshooting, RMA numbers for warranty, conversations had with customers and site visits performed. Complete RMAs and log project documentation in pipedrive for office teams to help track
  • Troubleshoot inverters for ground faults, error codes, equipment failure, communicate with vendors for warranty replacements and keep clear documentation of process in pipedrive
  • May perform required travel for extended periods at a time off island
  • Proactive in collaborating with management in creating and fine tuning company standards and procedures to be adapted in policies and the ERP
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Some construction, roofing or electrical experience with a desire to learn and follow direction
  • Advance understanding of electrical wiring of solar array/system (AC and DC)
  • Initiate use and understanding of NEC codes
  • Works well in a small team environment and can take directions
  • Works well independently while remaining efficient.
  • Follows all OSHA and company safety requirements without question
  • Follows all company operations standards, policies and processes
  • Candidates own their own hand tools
  • Personal reliable transportation
  • Detail oriented and shows pride in their work
  • Positive outlook even when challenged with physically or mentally demanding situations while maintaining a solution oriented attitude
  • Willing to ask questions if uncertain
  • Computer skills are a must; basic networking knowledge preferred
  • Responsible for maintaining vehicle clean by cleaning out all trash from the day before (cardboard, submit part returns, throughout the day ensures parts are put back in their place)
  • Candidate needs to be organized
  • Journeyman license a plus
  • Ability to program and troubleshoot monitoring equipment (Cat5, Zigbee, Router, Range Extender and wifi extenders)
  • Able to read and understand single line drawings
  • Ability to understand or have experience with all AHJ guidelines within Hi region
  • Ability to troubleshoot an inverter that is reporting production
  • Ability to understand or have experience with all types of Solar Equipment (Enphase, Solaredge, Sunpower, Tesla, Fronius and SMA)
  • Experience in electrical troubleshooting (power outage, shorts, faults, and under performances)
  • Understand of battery backup systems (Enphase, LG and Tesla)
  • Understanding of Standalone Metering equipment (CT’s for production and consumption data for Egauge installations)
  • Need to understand and have experience in AC Electrical Panels including Sub Panels

WORK CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, bend, kneel, balance, stoop, walk and reach. The employee will frequently be required to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
