What you will do:
You will generate documentation and maintain files; involving identification, citation, correction of deficiencies, summary reports on findings, and determine rent comparability based on unit and market conditions. Under the direction of Section 8 manager, you will plan, organize, conduct, and report on HQS inspections to ensure that properties meet federal and local housing quality standards under SHA’s and HUD regulations for HQS compliance.

What are the minimum qualifications?
  • Must pass the pre-employment background check.
  • Must have an Oregon Driver license and meet Salem Housing Authority driving standards.
  • Must have a combination of the following — High school diploma or GED and two years of experience working with the building trades, housing code enforcement, real estate, construction, housing inspection or code enforcement; or any combination of experience and training that demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities as listed, and ability to perform the work.
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain the Housing Quality Standards Certification within 9 months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associates degree in fields such as building trades, housing code enforcement, real estate, construction, housing inspection or code enforcement.
  • Visual Lead Based Paint Certification is desirable.
  • Nan McKay certification
  • Bilingual proficiency
