Quality Engineer Job Summary

Chemring Energetic Devices (CED), a division of Chemring Group, provides aerospace and commercial products in applications where safety, performance and high reliability are essential. It develops and produces advanced systems and products that are used worldwide primarily in commercial space satellites, launch vehicles, and government programs. The Quality Engineer supports the Quality Assurance Manager in all aspects of maintaining and improving the Quality Management System. Supports required Exam of Product functions and prepares detailed acceptance data packages. Performs internal and external quality regulatory audits and maintains the corrective action system. Work is highly independent.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Coordinate and facilitate customer required test witnessing and Exam of Product functions, including arranging for and supporting customer source inspections in accordance contractual requirements
  • Prepare quality acceptance data packages. Review customer contracts, engineering, and manufacturing specifications. Assist in assuring compliance to customer or industry requirements needed for product design, assembly or other special projects as needed
  • Understand and interpret all manufacturing audits, including AS 9100D, ISO 9001, Customer Requirements and other industry standards
  • In depth understanding of customers and their expectation with regards to inspection and documentation requirements
  • Internal efforts to support manufacturing and process improvements including leading quality corrective action plans and verifying effectiveness
  • Provide guidance to other positions within the Quality Organization and CED Organization to assist and support development and problem solving
  • Other duties, projects, and programs as my be assigned

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Must be eligible to pass drug screen, background check and prove US citizenship under the Safe Explosives Act of 2003 (as amended) as required by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) for all employees of Chemring Energetic Devices.
  • Careful, close review of aerospace contracts and supporting documentation to extract, organize and communicate detailed quality requirements using company defined templates. Generally familiar with a wide variety of material, processing standards, quality management system standards, and inspection and calibration standards. Strong verbal and written skills and ability to work effectively with internal and external customers. Able to quickly adapt to change.
  • Experience with the quality requirements of companies such as Boeing, Lockheed Martin, United Launch Alliance, Raytheon, Northrup Grumman.
  • Experience maintaining and improving a Quality Management System utilizing a strong working knowledge of AS9100 and NADCAP.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
  • Highly motivated and organized.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
