Position Summary

The Quality Engineer for Red Valve will be a highly motivated, creative, hands on, process-oriented self-starter who will lead the Quality team. The Quality Engineer will also perform a variety of quality control tests/inspections on manufactured and purchased product at various stages of the production process to ensure compliance with quality and reliability standards. The Quality Engineer will be expected to develop detailed inspection procedures and processes and specify the proper equipment and techniques to accomplish the required testing. The Quality Engineer will also lead, train, assign and check the work of subordinates and employees from other departments. This position will use research and analysis to make data-based decisions to deliver key strategies, objectives, process improvements and metric alignment that will result in cost reduction, cost avoidance, risk management and service/quality improvements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Lead the design and implementation of a comprehensive quality process
  • Support broader Operational Excellence strategic initiative
  • Leader who can motivate, inspire, and develop team members
  • Educate and provide technical support to the broader Red Valve team, customers, reps, and vendors on our quality processes and expectations
  • Owns the implementation and support of lean and continuous improvement activities for the Quality team. Plan, propose, lead, and execute root cause and corrective actions, kaizens, or other team-based continuous improvements events to execute improvement opportunities
  • Develop, implement and comply with various ISO 9001:2008 operating procedures, work instructions, and QA Department activities.
  • Works closely with the drafting/design team to properly manage engineering documentation such as engineering change notices, bills of material, submittals, detail drawings and revisions, operation maintenance and installation instructions.
  • Support of RMA process and timely review and disposition of nonconforming materials
  • Determine the root cause of identified problems (product-related) and assist in the determination of effective corrective and/or preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Tactical support of the quality processes, which may include: first piece, in-process, or final product inspections, dimensional and mechanical tests of both sub-assemblies and final products, conduct quality audits, inspect purchased components, process returns
  • Participates in special projects as required

Education

Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a concentration in Operations, Engineering, or other technical discipline. Master’s degree preferred.

Skills/Experience

  • 6+ years of quality assurance experience in a LEAN manufacturing environment
  • Preferably in a low volume high mix product portfolio
  • Previous experience with acquiring and maintaining certifications: ISO, NSF, etc.(expert)
  • Strong Project Management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects with little or no supervision (expert)
  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills with the proven ability to develop personnel (expert)
  • Practical knowledge of Lean business practices (expert)
  • Manage metrics with action plans and bowlers in accordance with the Strategic Deployment Process.

Travel

Employee must be able to travel 30% of the time (domestic and international).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $82,500.00 per year
