Summary
The Quality Manager is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and performing the activities of the quality inspection area and supporting the drafting/engineering requirements for a metal fabrication manufacturer. He/she passionately supports manufacturing products, Estimating and Sales needs, Operations, and STEM education within GenMet and the broader community.
Duties and responsibilities
- Understand and investigate customers’ needs/specifications and develop a strategy to support and meet or exceed
- Implement quality standards and processes to continuously improve GenMet quality metrics.
- Assign, prepare, update and peer review all necessary quality reports (CAs, PPAPs) as required by customers.
- Resolve quality issues with our Customers in a timely manner to ensure customer satisfaction. Determine and negotiate a mutually acceptable return and/or rework of product while preserving the company/Customer relationship.
- Lead Customer certifications and on-site internal and external audits.
- Certify suppliers and ensure supplier development in the areas that interface with engineering and operations (i.e.: drawings, specifications, quality).
- Assist in the development and review of standard operating procedures and work instructions
- Ensure that engineering drawings are completed and peer reviewed in an accurate and timely manner to support production
- Define and manage tooling and fixture requirements
- Support the LEAN, 5S continuous improvement or “Yellow Sheet” process to ensure timely entry, assessment, implementation and closed loop communication process with initiator and organization
- Lead employee training and development.
- Manage weld procedures, instruction and certifications with Certified Weld Instructor (CWI)
- Manage Smart Card attainment
- Train or manage blueprint reading, weld symbols, Geometric Dimensioning, and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Support Quality at the Source, Six Sigma and other related quality training.
- Ensure compliance with ISO9001, ITAR and other applicable quality and industry standards. Lead annual recertification efforts. Manage corrective actions, Non-conforming products and deviations.
- Responsible for hiring, supervising, supporting and evaluating team members
- Perform other duties as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Quality or Engineering preferred. 2 year degree in Engineering, Drafting or related field required
- Knowledge of methodologies of quality assurance and standards including data analysis/statistical methods
- Quality Six Sigma Green Belt, Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) desired
- Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Well organized, strong attention to detail and self-directed to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner
- Strong process development and project management skills
- Effectively communicates internally and externally to gather information, ask questions, develop alternatives, make recommendations, explain decisions and pursue actions
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), Solidworks and databases

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
