Radiology Technologist- Full-Time & Registry Nights Job at The University of Chicago Medicine

As a Radiology Technologist, you will perform diagnostic imaging studies as assigned, utilize appropriate principles of radiation protection, exercise professional judgement in the performance of imaging procedures and be responsible for providing care of patients in your charge.

Essential Job Functions
- Reviews physician's order to assure appropriateness of examination being requested
- Selects appropriate exposure factors based on body part, pathology, patient's age and technical equipment characteristics
- Reviews images for proper positioning, technique and identifications
- Performs a variety of general diagnostic studies with efficiency and high standards of quality: assures that the proper protocol is used for any given examination; evaluates images for diagnosticquality prior to submitting for interpretation.
- Prepares contrast media for administration to patients and assist physician in the performance of GI/GU studies

- Handles confidential information consistent with Federal HIPPA legislation, and all other applicable federal, state, local and institutional regulations with regard to confidentiality
- Interfaces with customers, patients and their family members, medical staff and visitors, in a friendly, professional manner, demonstrates the consistent use of the AIDET principles; demonstrates flexibility in accommodating special needs of customers whenever possible
- Maintains physical work environment to be in compliance with regulatory certifying agencies.
- Adheres to all infections control regulations. Recognizes report and document malfunctions oftechnical equipment
- Responsible for maintaining the integrity of the online picture archive and the radiology information system by the consistent and accurate input of data into the system. Follow establishedworkflows for workgroup. Assist in training new technologists and students. Will perform other duties as assigned.
- Rotating on-call responsibilities, weekends and holiday work is required.
Required Qualifications
- Associates degree in a related medical field of study or equivalent experience
- Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic technology training in an AMA approved program
- Certified by The American Registry of Radiological Technologists
- Licensed by the Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA)
- Demonstrates excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Good decision making and judgement skills
- Maintain required continuing education as mandated by The American Registry of Radiological Technologists
- Strong verbal, written and analytical skills
- Considerable knowledge of standard office practices and procedures along with knowledge of computers and software programs specific to the UCMC and the radiology department
- CPR certification
Preferred Qualifications
Dual Modality- (CT certification preferred)
