Haag Land & Cattle Co. is seeking an individual to fill the role of livestock manager in a progressive farming and ranching operation. The responsibilities with the position are widely varied and will include, but are not limited to:

· Oversee day-to-day management of both spring and fall calving cow herds and stocker feeders.

· Heard health management - planning and scheduling of preventative health treatments and detecting and doctoring animals as necessary.

· Range management - plan turn out dates, stocking rates, rotational grazing strategies to maximize range resources in a manner that promotes good stewardship. Plan and carry out strategies related to noxious weed control. Work with crop production enterprise to utilize forage and available feedstocks.

· Cattle nutrition - plan and implement the use of nutritional supplements and supplemental forage for cattle on grass and feeding of cattle while in feedlot.

· Maintain and improve livestock facilities including pasture fencing and watering, feedlot facilities, and cattle handling facilities.

· Implement and improve recordkeeping of the cow herd including stocking rates/dates, conception rates, weaning, body condition scores, etc.

· Primary responsibilities are to livestock. However, employee will be involved in farming operations as well, during critical time periods.

· Employee will be expected and encouraged to provide ideas and input regarding improving the profitability and performance of the cow herd and management of grazinglands.

Requirements

· Experience with cow-calf herd management and short-grass prairie management

· Experience performing basic veterinary skills (SQ and IM vaccination, branding, castration, etc)

· Ability to work in a dynamic environment and have flexibility with regard to daily tasks

· Ability to work independently in a safe and productive manner

· Clean driving record

· CDL in-hand or the ability to obtain one within 3 months of employment (air-brake and combination endorsements required)

Additional preferred qualifications

· Post high school education with emphasis in livestock

· Experience in grain farming operations

· Mechanical experience (welding, maintenance, etc.)

· Private or commercial applicators license
