NDDOT Starting Salary: $3,370 / month
Summary of Work
At the North Dakota Department of Transportation, we owe our success to our people and processes. As a Driver Records Specialist in our Drivers License Division, you will provide accurate and professional information to the public, providing independent and prompt decisions using critical judgment.
The ideal person for this position will be a multi-tasker and problem solver with excellent communication skills and attention to detail with previous experience in customer service and resolving conflict and customer problems. You will be responsible for interpreting statutes, laws, rules, policies, and procedures to provide assistance to the public and other state and government agencies. You will manage customer queries and complaints. To do well in this role you need to be able to remain calm when customers are frustrated, maintaining a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward the customer at all times.
Primary duties associated with this position are as follows:
- Provide technical assistance and maintain integrity of the driving record. The accuracy of record entries is critical.
- Answer a large amount of phone calls and be able to research answers to callers’ questions, handling difficult callers in a calm and even-toned manner.
- Review financial sites and matching driver records to make sure payments are recorded and adjust records accordingly. Process refunds when necessary.
- Update records based on information from ND courts, out-of-state agencies, and law enforcement.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Three Years of Work Experience performing a variety of complex administrative support and customer service duties.
- Related college-level course work may be substituted for up to two years of the work experience requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Requires satisfactory completion of the interview process and a verifiable record of satisfactory performance Employment of the selected candidate will be contingent on satisfactorily completing the interview process, reference, and background checks.
