Overview:
Position develops, conducts and evaluates activities' program plans and objectives to meet individual patient needs in coordination with other team members. Evaluates assigned patients and develops treatment plans including specific goals and activities, reevaluating and modifying plans as necessary. Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment. Maintains established department policies, procedures, objectives and quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, Inservice meetings and workshops, including adult growth and development through the life span. Attends meetings as required. Must demonstrate ability to recognize patients' individual needs based on medical conditions, age (infants, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, middle aged, and geriatric), limitations and planned procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Requirements/Qualifications:
Seeking a Recreation Therapist to join our program at St. Dominic’s Behavioral Health Services, Jackson, Mississippi. An experienced therapist is needed to design and implement a variety of activity therapies to foster effective interactions, enhance coping skills, cognitive functioning, reality orientation and prioritizing independence in caring for self. Provides a variety of recreational activities and services in order that social, physical and cognitive functioning be maximized and a desirable quality of leisure life be attained.

Requirements/Qualifications:
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Arts or Science degree from an accredited institution in therapeutic recreation or behavioral health related services. Master's degree preferred.
- Certification by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation preferred.
- Must demonstrate ability by education or training in treating people with mental/psychiatric illness.
- One year experience in therapeutic recreation.
- The successful candidate for the activities position will be energetic, passionate, and creative.
