The Referral Coordinator is responsible for managing, securing, and documenting patient referrals and authorizations in an ambulatory family practice setting. The Referral Coordinator should be a team player who is able to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision, yet also detail oriented and able to follow through. They must support clinic philosophy and goals and adhere to clinic policies and procedures.

We offer a Bilingual Skills Pay of $75 per paycheck or $150 per month in addition to hourly wages for those who qualify.

Schedule: This position is Monday- Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM with an hour break Noon-1 PM for lunch.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience with Epic
  • Bilingual in English-Spanish preferred
  • High school education
  • Knowledge of basic office and computer skills
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of pertinent regulatory requirements including HIPAA
  • Possess a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Possess friendly and respectful customer service phone skills even when dealing with difficult patients
  • Ability to meet deadlines and complete tasks with limited supervision
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Ability to work effectively with patients, employees, and allied health professionals
  • Ability to use time effectively

Principal Duties:

  • Answer phone calls during business hours coming into office regarding referrals and their statuses.
  • Verify eligibility, dates of coverage and benefits for specialty services as needed.
  • Obtain authorization for services and/or meds as needed.
  • Facilitate and document the administrative components of clinical referrals for both.
  • Coordinate the exchange of medical records and/or information between the clinic and the service provider.
  • Notify patients of referral status.
  • Notify providers promptly of service denied.
  • Maintain and monitor pending referrals. Referral Coordinator will contact specialty providers within a reasonable time period if referral report has not been received and notify the provider of referral status.
  • Develop and maintain database of referral sources.
  • Develop and maintain contacts with specialists and diagnostic facilities.
  • Other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Additional Job Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

Hearing, vision, and sensory skills adequate to obtain accurate information.

Ability to maintain patient confidentiality at all times, both on and off the job.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
