Job Summary

The RYF Registered Nurse provides services to youth with a primary medical disability that have been identified “medically specialized" by the Department of Children and Family Services. The RN spends on average one hour per month per assigned youth with medical/developmental special needs. The RN completes at least one quarterly in person visit with the youth, foster parent and caseworker, and a quarterly file review to recommend continued care in the program. More hours may be needed based on the youth’s medical stability, foster parent need for training and/or worker consultation. Communication and Collaboration with Nursing Staff should be in writing and documented in the child’s record. It is estimated that the RN will work approximately 10-20 hours per month.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide at least one hour per month of in-person nursing consultation.
  • Position is an administrative role within the agency, which includes participation in the “on call” rotation and attendance at weekly administrative meetings.
  • Responsible for attending and monitoring all regional and state-wide quarterly staffing.
  • Responsible for attending all contract APT meetings.
  • Responsible for entering supervision notes into SACWIS Database.
  • Responsible for team assigned foster care program intakes.
  • Responsible for meeting all foster care contract standards.
  • Responsible for meeting all requirements of DCFS matching checklist and program plans.
  • Responsible for all Performance Based Contracting (PBC) reports.
  • Responsible for working closely with the CQI Coordinator for auditing and quality assurance.
  • Provide emergency after-hours support to case work staff.
  • Responsible for receiving and processing significant event reports.
  • Will assume case management responsibilities during interim transition or a new hire.
  • Represent RYF and its programs in a positive manner to both internal and external contacts.
  • Attend meetings with other community agencies and contractual resources.
  • Attend bi-weekly staff meetings.
  • Attend supervision with Clinical Director on a routine basis.
  • Assist with community fundraisers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Registered Nurse License.
  • Experience in Human Services, Child Welfare, or Social Work preferred.
  • Computer skills: experience using SPSS, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated organization, facilitation, written and oral communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills.
  • Requires an ability to complete CWS licensure training and pass all required licensure exams.
  • Requires knowledge of the Department of Child and Family Services’ rules and regulations covering the child welfare field.
  • Requires an elementary knowledge of the criminal justice system.
  • Requires knowledge of child growth and development.
  • Experience working with adolescents is strongly desired.
  • Requires the ability to resolve problems in a calm manner as they arise – often in a hostile environment.
  • Requires physical, visual, and auditory ability to carry out assigned duties.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Must pass a DCFS background check and have an approved driving record.
  • Must have reliable transportation and proof of automobile insurance.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to be flexible with scheduling.
  • Ability to work well as a member of a team.

Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
