Description:
Remote Sensing Technician (RST) primary duties are for field data collection, processing, and interpretation of remote sensing data. The RST will work with technologies such as hydrography, aerial photography (drone or UAS), laser scanning, and other remote sensing equipment and projects. The RST will verify the equipment is functioning and calibrated correctly to insure collection of quality survey data. The RST will utilize various software programs for post-processing and data interpretation. The RST will be responsible for maintenance and troubleshooting of all equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Works alongside a team performing underwater, aerial, land surveying with remote sensing technology.
· Assists with hydrographic and marine geophysical survey planning, field data collection, data interpretation and data processing.
· Assists with remote aircraft operations with planning and clearance to airspace to flight ops and photogrammetry.
· Sets up, operates, and troubleshoots surveying system hardware, computers, software, and cabling.
· Prepare field service reports, maintain equipment logs, prepares written communication for clients and other team members.
· Collects and processes hydrographic data using HYPACK and other software.
· Works aboard various boats from skiffs, airboats, 18-30’ work boats, and offshore vessels.
· Develops and follows plans, specifications, procedures and promotes safe work practices.
· Perform shop tasks including the repair, cleaning, and preparation of remote sensing equipment.
· Candidate will be expected to develop skills and advance in growing technologies.
Experience and Qualifications (entry level):
· 1-2 years technical experience and/or fluency in computer skills, troubleshooting, programming, graphic design, data analysis, web based, videography, photography, etc.
· Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, conduct fieldwork in variety of weather conditions and terrain.
· Exceptional verbal and written communications skills.
· Background screening which may include, but is not limited to: employment verification, driving record check, criminal background.
· Flexibility to frequent regional travel, sometimes required to remain on prolonged projects out of state.
MPH will look favorably on candidates with any of the following experience or backgrounds: UAS (drone) operations, land or hydrographic surveying, aviation, electronics, or prior military.
