Mountain View, a Nursing and Rehabilitation Center has a Full Time Staff Development RN position available. Hours are primarily Monday through Friday with some evening and overnight hours as needed to train staff. You will earn paid vacation, sick and personal time as well as paid holidays off! The general purpose of the Staff Development Nurse is to maintain in-service education for all staff including the mandatory requirements set forth by state and federal regulatory entities as well as training/education as needed by the facility.
Under the general supervision of the Director of Nursing, the staff development nurse will oversee the staff development program, staff orientation, in-service planning and special in-service programs. This position provides staff education to all three shifts. Provides education and supervision for the facility Nurse Aide training, using the guidelines of Pa. Department of Education.
Position Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Completes the Train the Trainer Course and provides the education and supervision for the facilities in-house Nurse Aide program
- Interviews perspective applicants for nursing staff
- Interviews perspective applicants for the Nurse aide class.
- Orients and trains nursing staff RN;s, LPN;s and Nurse Aides.
- Orients all new staff to facility policies and procedures, forms and a general orientation regarding the over all operation of the facility.
- Orient and provide education and training on all three shifts as indicated by the needs of the facility.
- Documents all staff orientation and in-servicing when completed.
- Must be able to create, schedule, implement, monitor and document all mandatory state and federal in-services, and those required by the facility.
- Plans and organizes all required in-services with outside vendors/agencies as required.
- Adheres to the established facility policies related to infection control and reducing the potential spread of infection.
- Works cooperatively as part of the health care team to evaluate and revise current practices, policies and procedures.
- Maintains and promotes relationships with residents, visitors, and other staff members, and government regulators by presenting a professional appearance and positive attitude.
- Understands, complies with, and promotes all rules regarding residents’ rights and confidentially.
- Practices safety in provision of services, and promptly reports and hazards or violations to your supervisor.
- Participate in committees as directed.
- Performs additional functions or duties, as assigned by the Director of Nursing.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Ability
Education/Certifications/Experience
- EDUCATION: Train-the-Trainer Course completion is preferred.
- LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Current RN license is required and must be in good standing with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Possession of a current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers CPR certificate
