Memorial Community Hospital & Health System (MCH&HS), located in Blair, Nebraska, is seeking a Registered Nurse to join our Surgical Services team working PRN/Casual.

Job Summary
  • Performs admission assessments and documentation, develops plan of care and obtains consents.
  • Evaluates data, documents and communicates to appropriate members of the team.
  • Responsible for overall coordination of care and services delivered to patients.
  • Initiates evaluation of patient/family learning needs preoperatively and is sure patient and family understands procedure and discharge education and discharge plans.
  • Intervenes accordingly with accurate documentation of pre-op, OR and post op.
  • Responsible for assessing, planning and implementing and evaluation of care for all patients from newborn to elderly.
  • Follows appropriate procedures for changes in patient condition which require planning and intervention.
  • RN must be able to give efficient/safe administration of medications with appropriate monitoring, via various routes.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and consistently follows narcotic control procedures, documentation and reporting medications.
  • Maintains a safe and well-stocked environment of all supplies and checking the departments equipment for proper function regularly.
  • Maintains and enforces aseptic technique. Clean concise documentation of all surgical counts, vitals and medications.
  • Takes responsibility for charges, ordering new supplies and equipment. Anticipates needs of surgeon and staff in OR, PACU and SDS.
Job Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred.
  • Current RN Licensure in the state of Nebraska or Iowa required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of Operating Room experience.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • Current ACLS certification required or within 60 days or hire.
  • Current PALS certification required within 90 days of hire.
  • Current NRP certification required or within 6 months of hire.
  • Strong critical thinking and clinical judgement skills.
  • Computer knowledge required.
