This position provides coordination and content expertise for the Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN) program, currently online. The coordinator will assist with marketing of the program, recruitment of students, advising, student orientation, collection and dissemination of evaluation data, coordinated program growth, student support, and retention. This position will facilitate community partnerships and outreach. The coordinator assists the Department Chair in the selection, orientation, and oversight of course instructors. The coordinator will have Administrative Professional status and report to the Dean of the College of Health and Human Service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Nursing Department Chair in recruiting, selecting, and mentoring adjunct and clinical faculty for RN to BSN courses.
  • Assist the Nursing Faculty in reviewing and assessing curriculum, as required.
  • Serve as primary contact for students enrolled in the programs to field questions, concerns, and feedback and facilitate answers, solutions, and student success.
  • Provide student advising for prospective and current students.
  • Participate with admission and marketing staff to develop partnerships and networks in local and regional health care communities to facilitate student recruitment and success for graduates of the programs.
  • Develop community partnerships and solicit input and advise on proposed curriculum modifications.
  • Collect and disseminate evaluation data on the program.
  • Actively plan recruitment and outreach strategies.
  • Serve on RN to BSN committee, assuring student involvement.
  • Lead contact for ADN concurrent partners.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with various departments at SVSU for student admission and success.
  • Develop opportunities to streamline transfer student admission process, enhance curriculum with faculty, and seek feedback from community partners on educational needs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Master of Science in Nursing or completion within next academic year.
  • Outstanding customer service skills to provide support to the non-traditional student population and nurture growth in the RN to BSN program and the concurrent ADN to BSN program.
  • Experience with program leadership and development. Collaboration with state of Michigan community colleges, legislative leadership, academic leaders, and practice partners will be required.
  • Ability to utilize Windows-based software including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, along with a wide range of instructional technology tools and resources. Experience utilizing email for the purposes of organizational communications. Listening skills and the ability to speak and write clearly are essential to the position.
  • Experience and ability to positively interact with a diverse campus community.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodations.
