2. Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-

3. Develops, implements, and supports projects aimed at promoting safe and healthy lifestyles for children.

4. Designs and coordinates educational projects within the hospital and community.

5. Obtains financial resources/sponsorships for the programs future growth.

6. Assists in the design, development and implementation of all aspects of specified injury prevention projects as assigned

by the department, including, but not limited to creating projects and educational objectives, developing promotional

materials and maintaining inventory of needed educational materials and supplies.

7. Plans, schedules and allocated work within assigned projects, both short and long term.

8. Develops and maintains relationships with community agencies, groups, school districts and media outlets. Meets with

members of the community as required for marketing purposes and to promote good community relations.

9. Complies data for and prepares regularly scheduled or special reports, analysis and statements for project

documentation.

10. Organizes and attends coalition meetings, state Safe Kids Coordinator meetings and participates on committees as

directed by the McLeod Health Community Outreach Coordinator. Appropriately represents Safe Kids Pee Dee/Coastal

and McLeod Health at outside organizational meetings as directed by the McLeod Health Community Outreach

Coordinator.

11. Assures that equipment needed for project implementation is maintained in good repair to obtain maximum efficiency.

Reports and troubleshoots equipment failure for assigned projects.

12. Plans and executes health and safety events including health and safety fairs, expos and other related educational

programs in local schools, businesses and organizations.

13. In conjunction with support from the McLeod Health Foundation and McLeod Children’s Hospital, develop and

implement financial support to continue current Safe Kids programs and for the development of future programs,

events, activities and safety materials.

14. Must obtain Child Safety Seat Technician Certification to conduct Child Safety Seat checks and assist with overall

education on child restraint systems. Coordinates the Child Safety Seat Technician classes for the training of

community members and hospital staff.

15. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

16. This position is made possible through a McLeod Health Foundation grant.

17. Responsible for researching grant opportunities, writing grant proposals and submitting grant proposals to both the

McLeod Health Foundation and outside entities.

18. Documentation of use of grant funds and tracking of community benefits to be reported to the grant providers and the

McLeod Community Outreach Coordinator.

19. The Safe Kids Coordinator position is under the direction of the McLeod Marketing Department but is an extension of

McLeod Community Health Education, McLeod Children’s Hospital and the McLeod Health Foundation.

Job Requirements

Qualifications/Training:

Two to three years related experience or equivalent specialized training

Licenses/Certifications/Registrations/Education:

Bachelor’s degree or specialized training equivalent to 2 – 3 years.
