POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Provides support to the Safety Manager. Performs a wide variety of administrative duties that may include preparing reports, compiling data, investigating, and solving problems and communicating effectively to all departments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee and coordinate any investigations of incidents/accidents and follow up with corrective actions.
  • Lead the safety committee and all safety related employee meetings. This includes scheduling, facilitating, and making sure there are meeting minutes each month
  • Make sure maintenance is completing work orders for repairs in a timely manner
  • Assist in conduct annual OSHA required safety trainings with employees and keep records of training
  • Responsible to keep the SDS program implementations and keep them up to date
  • Responsible for being on the production floor on a regular basis by inspecting and observing that employees are following safe work practices
  • Making sure JSA’s are up to date and recorded properly
  • Able to present in a large group setting
  • Assist the Safety Manager in conducting annual severe weather & fire drill at all sites. Conducting route fire inspections with local fire chiefs
  • Continue to develop and review existing safety incentive programs to keep employees engaged in safety
  • Responsible for conducting new hire safety orientation
  • Responsible for keeping track of incident days and maintaining those numbers
  • Track and replace biohazard/sharp containers as needed
  • Oversee and maintain first responders and first aid kits
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience in a related Safety/Manufacturing field

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge gained through on the job training of company products, policies, and procedures
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Skill in operating various equipment as needed to perform the job
  • Skill in multitasking and time management
  • Ability to function cooperatively and effectively in a team environment with peers and personnel in other departments
  • Ability to keep company and customer information that is discussed or viewed while under employment with Truvant confidential
  • Ability to adhere to all regulatory and company policies, procedures, work instructions including but not limited to: Truvant policies, customer specific policies, ISO, GMP’s, USDA, regulatory food safety and food defense

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to read documents, printouts, computer screens and other communication
  • Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with co-workers
  • Must be able to reach, touch, grasp
  • Must be able to stand and/or walk for prolonged periods of time
  • Must be able to climb, stoop/kneel, lift, pull and push
  • Must be able to conduct yourself in a safe manner to avoid accidents while on the production floor
  • Must be able to work in various environments based on building location and products.
  • Level of Physical Requirements: Sedentary to medium work level; lifting and positioning weight loads up to 35 pounds
