Title: Safety Specialist

Reports to: Safety Director

Work Location: Long Beach, CA

Job Type: Full Time

Duties:

• Conduct and document continuous jobsite and work area inspections.
• Stop at once any non-compliant conditions or at-risk behaviors.
• Ensure follow up/closure of deficient items identified during jobsite/work area inspections.
• Render basic first aid when necessary.
• Perform monthly inspections of safety equipment (company owned fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, monitors, etc.)
• Assist in incident investigations and basic field level incident management
• Implement and supervise Short Service Employee program requirements.
• Represent Bragg Companies at Client sponsored safety meetings and forums.
• At the direction of the Safety Manager, implement Client/company driven safety initiatives at the field level.
• Assist in the administration of the site substance abuse screening program.
• Serve as initial point of contact for company and client field personnel.
• Administer/present craft safety training.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Safety Manager
• Must comply with Company Drug and Alcohol Policy

Required Skills & Knowledge:

• Excellent facilitation and communications skills.
• 5+ years full time safety experience in refineries and/or commercial construction
• Ability to develop and implement safety programs, policies, and Hazard Analyses
• OSHA 500/501/510/511 or equivalent
• Knowledge of crane operations, rigging practices and steel erection
• Must have valid driver s license and comply with Company driving policy.

Environmental Conditions:

• Works in climate-controlled office 25% of the time.
• May work in varying weather: hot, cold, and wet conditions.
• Frequently works in areas with large industrial equipment subject to high noise levels.
• Capacity to work varied shifts (including nights or split shifts, based on operational needs)
• Ability to work at heights while utilizing fall protection equipment

Education:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Wage: $95,000-$110,000/year

Local candidates preferred; no relocation/subsistence available.
