About Us:

Elysian Charter School is an innovative K–8, public charter school, located in Hoboken, New Jersey. We recently celebrated our 25th year of service to the Hoboken community - serving as one of the nine inaugural public charters statewide when the charter law was first enacted.

At Elysian, our small class size of 16 per class, allows us to focus on the whole child. Position Summary:

We are seeking a full-time middle school teacher to start with the 2023-2024 school year. This is an exciting opportunity for an educator who is passionate about improving student outcomes by leading excellent instruction and building a positive and diverse school culture.

Responsibilities:

• Create and foster a culture where all students can thrive and grow academically and socially
• Ability to manage & implement lesson plans
• Collaborate with stakeholders and confer with other teachers to ensure cross-curricular opportunities
• Plan for class activities, including preparing units and daily lesson plans, identifying materials to implement class activities and class projects
• Provide students with regular feedback to ensure mastery of presented material, and grading of tests and assignments in a timely manner
• Analyze assessment data to inform instruction
• Actively participate in all meetings, collaborative planning, and professional development, including regular school events
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills to build meaningful relationships with students and the broader community

Qualifications:

• Eligible for Standard Certification or CE, CEAS in NJ
• Prior teaching experience with record of improving student achievement preferred
• Experience with Orton-Gillingham reading instruction preferred
• Experience with 7th & 8th grade math preferred
• Experience writing IEP goals and objectives
• Experience attending IEP and 504 meetings
• A desire to make a difference in the lives of students, families and community
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences - colleagues, students and families
• A commitment to working with diverse populations of families and students

Compensation:

• Competitive salary based on years of experience as a lead teacher and level of education (associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree)
