Scientist Job at Labcorp
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced molecular diagnostic scientist for our Morrisville, NC laboratory. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the Molecular Pathology group in the Companion Diagnostics division of Labcorp Drug Development. The scientist will work in a multi-disciplinary team to develop molecular tests for companion diagnostic or research uses. He/She will be responsible for assay and validation study design and execution, act as a SME for client interfacing and business development.
Essential Job Duties:
- Molecular assay design and optimization including but not limited to RT-PCR, digital PCR, Sanger Sequencing and NGS sequencing
- Independently plans and executes experimental designs
- Data analysis with various instrument and computer software
- Writing and reviewing technical documents such as technical reports
- Work in a team to support Design Control activities
- Maintains laboratory in a regulated environment
- Support business development and client interfacing
Experience Required:
- Ph.D. in a relevant biological science, or Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant post-graduate experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of relevant experience
- Experienced in molecular assay design and optimization
- Critical thinking and problem solving
- Expertise in multiple molecular technologies, including PCR, Sanger Sequencing and NGS sequencing
- Experience in handling multiple sample types
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment, both independently and as part of a team
- Excellent communication, collaboration and organization skills
- Fluent in English, both verbal and written
