Snow Removal Foreman
This is a limited term casual position, to be utilized only as necessary for snow and ice removal operations during the approximate period of October 1 – April 30. This is an "On Call" position In order to respond to emergency and service needs- employees must be available for emergency work 24/7.
Responsibilities:
- Primary duty is to perform snow and ice clearance by plowing and by applying chlorides and salt, under supervision. Performs related duties as required.
- Performs some mechanical work and routine maintenance and minor equipment repair on equipment and vehicles involved in the performance of the above duties.
- Subject to call at all times for winter snow and ice removal, and other emergency and non-emergency situations.
- Maintains records and makes reports as required.
- It is unlikely an employee will perform all the duties listed on a regular basis, nor is the list exhaustive in the sense it covers all the duties that an employee may be required to perform. The examples are merely indicative, not restrictive.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); two to three years' experience operating heavy equipment and power tools; some experience performing plowing in an urban setting or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess valid Wisconsin Driver's License. A Commercial Driver's License Class A or B with Air Brake endorsement is preferred but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
- Ability to organize and maintain accurate and complete records and reports.
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors.
- Demonstrated reliability in attendance and flexibility to work long hours, especially in adverse weather conditions
Full-time, year round positions with benefits may be offered to individuals who successfully complete the 2021-2022 winter season.
