Overview
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Backend Developer to support programming, scripting, data storage, security, and other server-side functions. Successful candidates will have excellent communication, and be able to develop and maintain backend infrastructure for websites and web applications, troubleshoot and fix bugs, and work with front end developers. The ability to successfully incorporate ideas from clients, product managers, or other stakeholder sis fundamental to the position. Responsibilities
- Analyze business requirements, propose, design and implement technical solutions
- Design and development of data architecture and ETL dataflows in support of enterprise risk management, analytics and reporting
- Work effectively with the DBA teams to ensure that all approved development and deployment procedures are followed
- Provide production support from development teams for existing systems, troubleshoot data and/or system issues
- Identify root causes and resolve data related issues
- Review and optimize query performance
- Expert Python with strong SQL and understanding of ETL
- Work with requirements and UI team to design a sound technical solution for development team
- Contribute techniques, knowledge and experience to other developers to enhance overall team productivity
- Turn tickets into solutions, provide estimates on tasks, and assist in decomposing larger sections of work
- Work with other technical stakeholders on the team to determine approaches to new features
- Work within source control utilizing branching, merging, and proper check-in procedures
- Participate in Agile/Scrum workflow process to meet sprint release schedules
Skills Required
- Has 3+ years of back end development experience using the following (or similar) technologies: SQL, Python, Java, .Net
- Experience with Big Data (preferably Spark)
- Exposure to non-relational databases (NoSQL, Document)
- Exposure to Cloud data platforms (preferably AWS)
- Exposure to Distributed architectures and systems
- Extensive experience with database development tools , ETL and integration technologies
- Experience developing large scale systems
- Experience working in controlled development, testing and production environment
- Experience in Data Modeling, Data Warehousing, PL/SQL, ETL processing
- Familiarity with development toolkits & source repositories (preferably GIT)
- Sound understanding of RDBMS
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving and quantitative skills
- Aptitude for debugging problems in complex, unfamiliar code
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
- Solid work ethic, self-driven with the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance
- U.S. citizenship is required
- Salary range: $70,000-$92,000/yr, DOE
