Job Description

The Business Intelligence Analyst will assist in the administration of all Analytics and Reporting tools utilized for company reporting of Sales, Marketing and Commercial Operations. This includes the maintenance and upgrade of these systems to support continued business growth. The incumbent will partner cross-functionally with other departments to ensure their reporting needs are met. This person will also provide support to reporting and process improvement projects and support improved efficiencies and analysis capabilities as well as help improve decision making capabilities across the organization.

Job Duties

  • Interacts with the functional teams, various technical teams, and business stakeholders to optimize and maintain the overall reliability, availability and performance of Analytics and Reporting tools, while consulting with users regularly to assess the performance of all reporting and analytics tools to ensure it meets the needs of the business.


  • Responsible for implementing, maintaining, and supporting the technical environment of all reporting solutions including coordinating with ITS for any open ticket requests and ensuring ticketing backlog is maintained and up to date.


  • As a member of the Analytics and Reporting department, will work with various personnel within the organization to facilitate accurate and timely reporting and advise leadership on how BI and Analytics come together (processes, practices and technologies) to play a critical role in improving data-based decision making.


  • Acts as lead point of contact for a high performing team to integrate internal and external data sources across the organization's various business units.


  • Takes the lead on all existing Business Intelligence tools including Web Intelligence, Design Studio, Information Design Tool (SQL), QlikSense and Power BI.


  • Coordinate the upgrades, installation and configuration of the Business Intelligence application servers in order to keep all tools current.


  • Partners with Corporate executive leadership to support the mapping of operational processes, understanding in detail the data, analysis and tools needed at each touch point, and recognize opportunities for process improvements to make sales teams more productive by probing for hidden questions and goals.


  • Leads adoption of analytics and business intelligence tools across the organization, including facilitating training on the tools and data to enable Self Service BI.


  • Defines the strategies for delivering analytics capabilities to business groups and e.


  • Coordinates with the Business Warehouse team to ensure all data models are accurate, timely and contain all necessary information for the business.


  • Identify and implement innovative analytic frameworks and solutions to facilitate strategic business decisions, identify new market opportunities and uncover areas of improvement.


  • Educate and train users regarding the functional use of analyses, reports and other tools.


  • Advise leadership on how BI and Analytics come together (processes, practices and technologies) to play a critical role in improving data based decision making.


  • Lead communication and presentation of all findings.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • A bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent experience (4 years) is required.


  • A minimum of 4-7 years of advanced experience with Business Objects and Power BI, preferably in the medical device, pharmaceutical, financial service, insurance industries or repair/manufacturing analytics.


  • Experience with Microsoft Applications (i.e. PowerPoint, Excel, Access) is required. · Relational database/SQL experience is required. Python and R experience is a plus.


  • Report and dashboard development experience in Business Intelligence tools such as Power BI, Qlik, or SAP Business Objects is required.


  • Should have the ability to understand Reporting issues and be able to work with ITS to resolve the issue to include the ability to troubleshoot reports in multiple reporting tools including Business Objects, Qlicksense, and PowerBI.


  • Possibility of travel 1-2 times per year as required.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Preferred incumbent will have an understanding of Data Warehouse Architecture, including: Data Sources, Data Ingestion, Data Storage & Integration Layer, and Semantic Layer.


  • Champion for data-based decision making. Excellent analytical and organizational skills are necessary.


  • Deadline-oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.


  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills are required. Must be able to partner cross-functionally to complete tasks.


  • Keeps their technical skills current; effectively applies specialized knowledge and skills to perform work tasks; understands and masters the technical skills, knowledge, and tasks associated with their job; shares technical expertise with others.


  • Skilled at finding logical flaws in arguments and plans; identifies problems and solutions that others might miss; provides detailed insight and constructive criticism into problems and complex situations.


  • Displays confidence and poise in formal speaking situations; creates effective and compelling presentations
