As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be crucial to developing and maintaining our core products, PDQ Deploy and PDQ Inventory. As a member of the engineering team, you will have various responsibilities, including implementing new functionality, eliminating bugs, maintaining our code, and growing as an engineer. You will be involved across the entire product lifecycle, from ideation through building, testing, deploying, monitoring and supporting critical systems.
A look at the role:
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve software
- Work across the entire technology stack, from code to infrastructure
- Collaborate with team to deliver on project priorities within deadlines
- Work with customers and team members on technical issues including software outages, security risks, maintenance, deployment, customer support tickets
- Collaborate with UX designers to improve the fit-for-purpose of products
- Mentor other software engineers
- Learn other programming languages and frameworks as needed for project research
- Identify, examine, demonstrate, and teach new technologies to the rest of the department
- Conduct independent research or prototype efforts with little oversight
- Work with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools as necessary for building current project work
We're looking for people with:
- Experience engaging with open-source projects and communities
- Passionate about delivering business value by applying your engineering skills
- Possess strong analytic, technical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively through written or verbal medium
- Experienced with desktop software development in WPF and C#; MVVM and DevExpress a plus
- Knowledge of Git and Git flow version control
- Defensive security strategies
- Strong ability to create architecture diagrams, specifications, and other analyses from user requirements
- Expert debugging skills and pragmatic design experience
- Experience with test-driven development and automated testing frameworks
- Ability to read code and ask questions to quickly understand an unfamiliar codebase
- Ability to understand a problem space and make code changes safely
Who you are:
- Bachelor's degree in CS, a related degree, or equivalent experience
- Strong understanding of WPF and C#; MVVM and DevExpress a plus
- Strong object-oriented programming knowledge
- 6+ years of experience working on a variety of software development projects, personal or professional
- Strong .NET multithreading experience
- Agile/Kanban development experience
- Experience and desire to upgrade legacy applications
