Job Description


Preferred Locations are Nashville, TN or Cleveland, OH.

Reporting to the Executive Director Market Intelligence & Commercial Operations, the Senior Category Manager will own the category management relationship with identified strategic accounts. The Senior Category Manager will drive key growth initiatives leveraging a fact-based approach including market trend analysis, category assessment, assortment optimization, planogram development, promotion planning and optimizing the shoppers experience as well as elevate GE Lighting’s presence and impact with assigned accounts.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Own the category management process at key strategic accounts securing the appropriate resources to effectively maximize sales and grow margins for Retailer(s) and GE Lighting.
  • Elevate best in class category management principles driving efficiency and effectiveness
  • Collect, analyze, interpret and report relevant information sources include: retail proprietary data sources, NielsenIQ Connect, NielsenIQ Shopper Collections/Discover, 1010Data, Numerator, and other secondary data sets including retailer proprietary data.
  • Work collaboratively and effectively with the Research Center of Excellence to lead impactful shopper initiatives.
  • Proactively identify emerging shopper trends, competitive threats and customer opportunities leveraging all available resources making fact-based recommendations to Retailers and GE Lighting Account Manager(s).
  • Optimize planograms for shopability, space to sales, capacity and GMROII utilizing ProSpace and other applicable tools and research.
  • Manage demographic database and support requests for data / information
  • Identify and measure promotional & competitive activities
  • Understand & measure customer and GE Lightings CTQs that are identified
  • Responsible for development & maintenance of all customer plan-o-grams
  • Assist in development of annual sales growth and promotional plans
  • Develop and lead regular customer meetings to provide meaningful insights and fact-based recommendations related to customer solicitation, promotional planning, and line reviews.
  • Assess, identify & initiate training & development needs to implement Best In Class Category Management principles delivering results

Qualifications


Qualifications / Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business or related
  • 7-10 years of Category Management, Research, or Sales Analytics experience
  • Strong knowledge of consumer products and developing partnerships with national accounts
  • Proficient in sales and marketing development, data analysis, POG development, ability to conduct complex ad-hoc data analysis
  • Strong working knowledge of NielsenIQ Connect and/or other syndicated data platforms
  • Advanced level analytical and data basing applications experience (Excel and Access)
  • Strong story telling experience converting data into insights
  • Experience with Space Planning software
  • Strong strategic planning, organizational, interpersonal skills; must be able to work effectively in teams with high customer focus
  • Excellent leadership, creative problem solving, and project management skills
  • Self-starter, task oriented with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Ability to travel as required for customer meetings, product knowledge events, and other customer-related activities

Desired Characteristics

  • Dollar Channel experience! (Dollar General / Family Dollar)
  • Working knowledge of CPG Retailers
  • Working knowledge of customer loyalty card information
  • Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated Category Management success
  • Minimum 2 years managing and/or coaching direct reports
  • Custom research techniques and shopper insights expertise
