Job Description:

At CoBank, our Senior Data Strategy Scrum Master contributes to the activation of the Data Strategy Program by instituting Agile and Scrum principals across the Enterprise Information Management (EIM) division. Accelerate activation of the 12 Enterprise Data Capabilities, as owned across EIM, by fostering DevOps backlog and board management best practices, ensuring cross functional priority alignment, and that work efforts remain aligned to Enterprise Data Strategy goals. Supports EIM functional area leadership with inter-team planning efforts, daily communications, and facilitation of various Agile/Scrum ceremonies. Partners with the Chief Data Analytics & Business Transformation Officer, Manager of Enterprise Data Strategy, and Data Strategy Analyst to support data strategy planning efforts.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the health of EIM DevOps backlogs and boards by enforcing established DevOps guidelines and principals and holding teams accountable for up-to-date, accurate, and consistent information.
  • Establish and facilitate regular Agile/Scrum ceremonies across EIM functional teams, including but not limited to: daily standups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Create DevOps dashboards and other tracking methods to manage work product progress, burndown, intake, and to monitor schedule/commitment dates. Collaborates with EIM leadership and respective teams to facilitate the creation and maintenance of functional team roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with each EIM functional team to manage work intake methods, priority alignment, user stories and acceptance criteria development, work product sizing, work product scheduling (including defect remediation and refactoring), and capacity planning.
  • Identify and monitor work product impediments, blockers, and risks. Assist teams and associated leadership with resolution and limiting external interference that impedes the teams’ velocity.
  • Partners with the Chief Data Analytics & Business Transformation Officer (CDABO, Manager of Enterprise Data Strategy, and Data Strategy Analyst to support data strategy planning efforts by aligning near term work efforts, team capacity, and team capabilities/skillsets.
  • Responsible for education across the EIM division regarding Agile/Scrum principals, best practices, and expectations. Education to include DevOps backlog and board management guidelines, overviews of Agile/Scrum ceremonies and processes, as well as ongoing education as areas of opportunity are identified.
  • Facilitate functional team and EIM divisional level retrospectives to identify areas of opportunity and create action plans to evolve processes, tracking, and work product management.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Management, Information Technology, Mathematics, Data Management.
  • 5 years Scrum master, product owner, project management, data management or other relevant experience; or an appropriate combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree Preferred.
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM), preferred.
  • Prior experience in business/information management and data management practices with proven ability to use multiple delivery skillsets and methodologies (i.e. Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall).
  • Experience in financial services, lending/leasing business, agribusiness, communications, energy, or cooperatives, with a basic knowledge of banking and lending terminology.
  • Strong business acumen, with the ability to understand the direction, priorities and goals of the organization, and to use analytics to develop effective strategies and solutions.
  • Analytical, decision making and problem solving skills.
  • Comfortable working with diverse groups and serve as arbitrator when conflicts arise.
  • Excellent detail and customer service orientation.
  • Able to develop and maintain effective relationships with partners and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance, as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and prioritization skills, with the ability to balance work on multiple projects or programs, and adapt to the changing needs of the business.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills, including the ability to understand and translate abstract concepts and ideas, and communicate in both a business and technical context to non-technical audiences at all levels of the organization.
  • Skills in DevOps platforms and Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel).

Compensation Information

  • Estimated Base Salary Range: $100,000-$140,000
  • Target short-term incentive opportunity: 15%
