Starting salary for this position is: $3,401 (Monthly)

Employees starting at the entry step of this range receive salary step advancement after six months and every 12 months thereafter. If an employee starting at anything higher than the entry step of the range, will have salary step advancement after 12 months and salary step advancement every 12 months thereafter until they reach the top of the salary range. Each salary step advancement will be approximately a 5% increase in salary.

SFCC is one of two accredited community colleges that comprise the Community Colleges of Spokane (CCS). In addition to serving the urban and suburban population in greater Spokane, including students from Fairchild Airforce Base, CCS provides educational services to rural communities throughout our 12,302 square-mile region in Eastern Washington, including students from the Spokane and other Eastern Washington tribes.

The Community Colleges of Spokane is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Concurrent Enrollment Specialist in the SFCC Student Transitions Division.

GENERAL DEFINITION

Under general supervision of the Director of Concurrent Enrollment Programs, the Program Specialist provides support and assistance in the administration of the Office of Concurrent Enrollment Programs. The Program Specialist’s role will include supporting dual credit programs at Spokane Falls Community College (SFCC), transcript evaluation in accordance with state requirements, monitoring student progress towards completion of a high school diploma, data collection and program reporting and performing other related tasks.

The Program Specialist will organize recruitment, application, registration and documentation for high school students entering concurrent enrollment programs. This position will also track/monitor services required by WA State and local high schools served, provide program support in Admissions and Registration and monitor high school students throughout their program.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinate and monitor all aspects of concurrently enrolled student progress toward earning a high school diploma, including, but not limited to; intake and evaluation of transcript, updating grades, credits, and test scores quarterly, and processing students for graduation. *
  • Create, track and reconcile various reports. Assist in the preparation of grants and program reporting. *
  • Coordinate with teachers, counselors, staff, and administrators to successfully complete all aspects of the admissions and registration processes for concurrently enrolled high school students. *
  • Assist with outreach efforts including presentations (virtual and in-person), classroom visits as well as dual credit information night presentations. *
  • Track eligibility requirements and communicate progress with teachers, administrators, counselors, and students. Process admission, testing and testing results, and registration forms for dual credit students, and coordinate other student services as needed for concurrent enrollment programs. *
  • Correspond both in writing and verbally with teachers, counselors, administrators, staff and students regarding program related activities (e.g., on-site testing, testing results, program confirmation, add/drop, enrollment verification, program related questions, etc.). Assist in the coordination of teacher trainings and professional development opportunities for high school teachers, counselors, and directors. *
  • Collect, analyze and prepare reports for course enrollment; communicate with high school staff to ensure accurate reporting of student rosters. Prepare invoice documentation for billing, working with district Business Office to monitor processing of payments. *
  • Generate final rosters for teachers and counselors, update supervisor and other appropriate parties on course enrollment numbers. *
  • Assist Dual Enrollment Program students with processes/transactions such as ctcLink (PeopleSoft), applications for admissions, schedule planning, online registration, update and add/drop/withdrawal forms, resolving hold blocks, etc. Work with Dual Enrollment Program seniors to transition to traditional students. *
  • Request and receive information from high schools to build classes. Work with appropriate parties to build courses and answer questions that may arise regarding course creation. *
  • Build, maintain, monitor, and purge concurrent enrollment student files, as needed. *
  • Generate required reports and maintain accurate departmental statistics. *
  • Travel with the Director of Concurrent Enrollment Programs to work with area high school students and faculty. *
  • Model professional decorum and mutual respect in all personal interactions. *
  • Comply with district policies, procedures and directives, state and federal regulations, orders and statutes and collective bargaining agreements. *
  • Support and advance the CCS strategic plan, and perform other duties as assigned. *
  • Indicates this is an essential duty.
This position is designated a bargaining unit position.

COMPETENCIES & OTHER REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS)


  • Associate degree from an accredited institution. Or an equivalent mix of education and experience that demonstrates the candidate meets all competency requirements for this position.
  • Two (2) years of experience working with concurrent enrollment programs and processes.
  • Excellent student-centered customer service, outstanding interpersonal skills, organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience using computers, spreadsheets, database and word processing software.
  • Ability to be supportive in providing information and services to concurrently enrolled students.
  • Ability to effectively organize multiple work assignments, involving competing priorities, to produce work products that are accurate, of high quality and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to initiate and complete projects.
  • Ability to work with others as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentially and ethical working practices.
  • Acceptance of the responsibility to promote the welfare and best interests of students at all times.
  • A demonstrable understanding and acceptance of the vision, mission, values, goals, objectives and strategic plan of CCS.
  • The ability to perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations and goals of the institution, and community and technical college system.

PREFERRED COMPETENCIES (DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS)
The following qualifications are not necessary for application but could support a candidate’s success:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
  • Experience in higher education.
  • More than two (2) years of work in providing related services to students in dual enrollment.
  • Knowledge/experience of Running Start and Admissions/Registrations services.
  • Demonstrated data tracking, monitoring, and preparing of reports.
  • Knowledge of FERPA rules and regulations.

CONDITIONS/TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

TOTAL COMPENSATION WITH BENEFITS: $56,511 - $72,485

Total compensation is an estimate based upon adding the following amounts together:

  • Base compensation of $40,812 - $54,492, plus
  • Current employer-paid health and related benefit contribution rates, plus

The actual total will vary depending upon each employee's enrollment choices.

Person hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of U.S. Citizenship or lawful authorization to work in the United States. This is an absolute condition of employment. An offer of employment will not carry with it any responsibility or obligation on the part of the District to sponsor an H1-B visa. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
  • Full-time schedule (12-month, 40-hours a week).
  • 6-month probationary period; may be extended up to 12 months.
  • This position is overtime eligible.
  • Requires local or regional travel. If using a personal vehicle, proof of driver's license and car insurance is required.
  • Criminal background check is required.
  • May be required to work alternate shift
