Purpose/Introduction
Chevron Phillips Chemical Company (CPC Chem) is seeking an experienced chemical engineer to fill a senior process engineer position in the Global Process Engineering (GPE) organization within Research & Technology. The successful candidate will be a subject matter expert providing process design, analysis, and innovation to major capital projects and licensing opportunities. The core process technologies include loop slurry polyolefins, alpha-olefins, on-purpose benzene and sulfur-based specialty chemicals.
Responsibilities
- Prepare process designs and initial front-end engineering for projects including scoping, economic analysis, and process engineering for new and debottleneck projects for CPChem and technology Licensees.
- Work on a technical project team to support and implement executed licenses – Process Design Package (PDP); Work with and oversee contractors; Technical services, etc.
- Provide in-office support at a contract engineering firm selected for major projects to ensure detailed design meets PDP requirements, as needed.
- Provide subject matter expertise to process related project elements associated with CPChem’s core technologies including technology documentation and transfer, 3D model reviews, HAZOP/LOPA analysis, plant inspection, and startup support.
- Use expertise to mentor and share expertise to improve effectiveness of GPE and other engineers working for CPChem.
- Advance improvements of CPChem core technologies through inventorship and successful implementation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering is required, advanced degrees preferred.
- 10+ years’ experience in continuous chemical processes including the design or operation of HDPE production, alpha olefins production, on-purpose benzene production or the production of sulfur based specialty chemicals.
- Expertise with building and using process models for costing, design, HMB generation, or process troubleshooting.
- Experience assembling and reviewing engineering datasheets, PFDs, and P&IDs.
- Experience providing subject matter expertise to HAZOP/LOPA analysis
- Experience in PDP development, FEED, Detailed Engineering Development, or Debottlenecking of existing facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 15 years of relevant engineering experience.
