Ardmore Roderick (AR) provides program management, project management, engineering, and construction management services for clients within the electric and gas utilities industry. Our PMs manage capital projects for all phases of modification, replacement, or new construction projects. The primary responsibility of the Senior Project Manager (SPM) position is to manage project implementation as an agent of the client, including oversight and coordination with other consultants and contractors that are responsible for preliminary and detailed design, construction, and construction inspection. A SPM will be responsible for managing or supporting the management of project’s scope, schedule, budget, and risk assessment and mitigation for multiple projects. Project support may be required for all phases of a project’s life cycle, business case, funding approval process, initiation, execution and project closeout.

Since a significant portion of the role involves communication with internal and external team members and stakeholders, excellent written and verbal communication skills are critical to success. Additionally, the position requires a high level of organizational ability to simultaneously oversee, drive action on, maintain documentation for, and report status on multiple active and pending major projects.

Responsibilities:

• Acts as a prime contact with the client and other project stakeholders and is responsible for overall work progress and technical performance on assigned capital projects related to electric or gas transmission and distribution systems.
• Leads, manages and provides motivation and direction to project teams through all phases of project planning, execution, and closeout, consistent with established project delivery processes to meet the scope, schedule, budget and other specified requirements of the projects.
• Oversees resource requirements, scope/schedule/sequence of project activities, risk profile, quality, health/safety /environment, and financial performance of assigned projects, to assure that the client’s business and policy expectations are met.
• Broad understanding of technical expertise for design/construction of electric and gas systems for transmission and distribution systems; understanding of the process required for the development of construction document packages including drawings and specifications; and participation at factory acceptance testing for equipment including.

Necessary Abilities and Skills:

• Demonstrated understanding and application of the competencies (knowledge and skill) required of a project manager; for project team leadership and project delivery.
• Demonstrated capability to manage multiple mid-sized projects of average complexity.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills to simultaneously oversee many concurrent projects.
• Detail-orientation to assure consultant deliverables are of high quality and appropriately reflect applicable standards and preferences.
• Proficiency with project management applications; Microsoft Project, Primavera, etc.
• Proficiency with Microsoft applications, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams and SharePoint.

Professional Qualifications:

Required

• Bachelor’s degree Project Management or Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in project management with electric or gas transmission and distribution systems.
• Project Management Institute PMP certification, or equivalent.

Preferred

• Professional Engineer (PE) license, or Engineering Inter (EI) / Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification with 3+ Years of PE supervised experience.
