We believe people should love what they do – in this role, the Quality Engr. Spcl, will perform multi-faceted assignments that contribute to the continuous improvement of the Quality Management System.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs Supplier Quality Engineering assignments requiring interactions with Suppliers Quality Assurance to resolve material quality and process issues.
  • Performs Quality Engineering assignments requiring independent evaluation, selection, and application of standard Quality Engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment and ingenuity in making adaptations and modifications.
  • Performs Quality Management Systems assignments requiring AS9100 System auditing, manufacturing process reviews, root cause and corrective action analysis, process and procedure development and revision, data analysis and reporting, containing quality issues from becoming quality escapes, communicating highly technical quality issues with program engineering, management, and regulatory and customer representatives.
  • Develop, manage, and revise policies and procedures
  • Interface with Supplier Quality Assurance to provide guidance and facilitate issue resolution.
  • Perform QMS and manufacturing process audits.
  • Collaborate with program engineers, manufacturing process engineers, manufacturing leaders and operators, inspectors, IT, materials and properties lab engineers, and others as needed, when material quality issues arise.
  • Performs quality planning activities including development of Quality Program Plans and design document reviews.
  • Participates in process improvement activities through monitoring, root cause investigations, auditing, failure mode analysis, etc. Participates in Program Management activities appropriate to the assigned program(s).
  • Participates in Contract Data Requirements List development, review and delivery to the customer as required by the assigned project(s).
  • Assist with performing or facilitating material testing/analysis evaluations on special projects.
  • Facilitates Root Cause and corrective action analysis
  • Assists in developing fabrication/build processes and standards.
  • Participates in Material Review Board (MRB) for quality nonconformances for disposition activities.
  • Utilizes specialized Engineering skills in performance of the assigned tasks.
  • Interfaces with internal/external organizations and systems in performance of the assigned Quality Engineering functions.

  • Communicates well, both written and verbal, with all the interfacing functions. Maintains good interpersonal skills and demonstrates leadership skills necessary for the position.
  • Conducts internal QMS audits and participates in external registrar or customer audits.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering (Industrial Engineering preferred) with 6+ years related experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of GD&T.
  • Strong Knowledge of Quality Management Systems, standards (AS9100 and/or ISO9001), and concepts.
  • Knowledge of Quality Engineering and manufacturing processes and systems.
  • Technical knowledge of inspection, test, and statistical techniques.
  • Superb technical written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze specifications, drawings, procedures, and schematics.
  • Ability to apply logical, scientific, or analytical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Software development experience is a plus
  • Lean Six Sigma (LSS) root cause corrective action and continuous improvement proficiency; LSS green/black belt certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in quality systems and records.
  • Inspection processes and techniques.
  • Strong customer service and support.
  • Adroit at working in and leading cross-functional teams to solve complex problems.
