Come work for us at the Child Serve Spirit Cafe! Our team provides quality meals to children and families on our inpatient care units, as well as meals for our staff. The Cook Shift Coordinator will be responsible for providing high quality, nutritious food and fluids at appropriate temperatures and with appropriate texture modifications, while maintaining sanitary procedures. This individual will also monitor work completed on each respective shift so all tasks are completed. Some days you'll be cooking, some days you'll be prepping. Pay based on cooking experience. Great job if you like variety in your work!

Compensation

Starting pay rate for this position is between $16-18/hour.

Schedule

PRN, hours vary, but are typically weekdays in the PM between 5p-8p and every other weekend.

What You'll Do

Shift Coordination:

• Monitor work completed by other dietary staff on their respective shifts so all tasks are completed.
• Report problems and concerns to the Dietary/Laundry Manager.
• Make schedule changes as necessary, being flexible in own schedule.
• Train new staff to detailed cooking procedures and dietary procedures with a positive and helpful approach.

Food Preparation:

• Follows daily menu.
• Uses recipes for all food prepared.
• Plans food production to coordinate with meal serving hours so excellence, quality, temperature and appearance of food are preserved.

Customer Service:

• Greets customers with a positive, friendly, courteous attitude.
• Provides information about the menu selections and pricing.
• Problem solves by being a good listener to understand what a customer needs and being flexible with individuals for special needs, yet follows our basic principles for pricing.

What You'll Need

• In the process of getting high school diploma or GED; high school diploma/GED preferred.
• Must be 18 years of age to use equipment.
• A minimum of six months’ experience as a cook in a health care facility, restaurant or cafeteria, or worked as a cook’s assistant with on-the-job training is required.
• Experience as a Prep Cook is preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively in reading, writing, and speaking the English language.
