POSITION SUMMARY:

  • This position involves the performance of upkeep tasks such as repairs and preventive maintenance. Applying basic fixes to equipment and building systems and ensure facilities are tidy and functional.
  • Being reliable and having a solid technical knowledge with experience.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs minor building, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and painting repairs as necessary
  • Implement preventive maintenance measures
  • Respond quickly in event of an emergency, notify appropriate personal, and follow safety protocol
  • Complete inspections of the facility with the director or assistant director
  • Collaborate with workers and other professionals during renovations
  • Check control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues
  • Check functionality of safety systems(e.g. fire alarm)
  • Install appliances and equipment
  • Perform other maintenance duties as requested
  • Maintains an inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Strives constantly to promote the safety, health, and comfort of the students and employees.

QUALIFICATIONS KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Materials, supplies, and practices essential to the cleaning of buildings.
  • Use and care of equipment related to the custodial care of buildings.
  • Hazards and safety methods related to custodial or maintenance operations.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to climb and work at ladder heights not greater than 30’.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs is required.
  • Recognize and correct inappropriate behavior.
  • Instructs others in the methods and operation of equipment.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent training (GED).
  • Journeyman status in one of the standard trades. Other combinations of experience and education, which meet the minimum requirements, may be substituted.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work Environment involves no physical risks or hazardous conditions
  • Work environment involves slight physical risks that require basic safety precautions (safety glasses, lab coats, rubber gloves etc.)
  • Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following detailed safety precautions (such as wearing respirators, handling hazardous materials, and working with industrial machinery.)
