Summary:
We are currently seeking a Shipping & Slitting Supervisor at our World Class finishing facility in Vandergrift, PA. Thisposition will be responsible overseeing safety, quality, operations, and maintenance of the Slitting asset, along with the shipping and scrap metal departments. The position leads a diverse, represented hourly workforce in day-to-day problem solving and troubleshooting efforts, as well as, interacting with all levels of management on a wide range of business issues.
Essential Functions:
- Facilitate the installation of continuous improvement projects to reduce the overall cycle time of material flowing through up to 6 production lines in the slitting asset.
- Implement reliability centered maintenance principles to increase reliability of all Slitting equipment.
- Coordinate and lead the direct assignment of work and safety controls to hourly personnel.
- Assure the correct operation and availability of equipment to achieve on-time delivery goals.
- Works closely with inside and outside support personnel for mill activity coordination.
- Create cross training opportunities to enhance coverage and redundancy to mitigate unplanned vacancies.
- Monitor safety programs, maintain awareness to seek out potential safety hazards, and appropriately address safety issues.
- Serve as the primary backup to the plant's Supply Chain process manager, who is responsible for Production Control and Material Flow through the facility.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or 3 years' experience in a manufacturing industry/environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading an hourly workforce.
- Experience in Production Planning or Inventory Management.
- Demonstrate the ability to manage priorities & work schedule to consistently meet deadlines.
- Ability to effectively lead a diverse and represented hourly workforce
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional organization skills
