Middle School Social Studies Teacher

Center for Academic Success - Sierra Vista

Job Classification: Exempt

Position Type: This is a full time, 10-month position. Monday through Friday. Usual hours are 7:30am to 3:30pm

Essential Functions:

· Designing, developing, and conveying quality lesson plans and curricula that adhere to state and school guidelines.

· Drawing up appropriate assessments and delivering helpful feedback to students, parents, and other teachers.

· Providing extra resources, support, and interventions for students who are struggling.

· Creating an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and voicing concerns.

· Grading papers, updating records, and handling various administrative tasks.

· Participating in other school activities and regularly communicating with parents.

· Dedication, patience, and the ability to remain calm in tense situations.

· Encourage the development of critical thinking skills

· Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

· Practical experience with MS Office, Google Classroom, and other software.

· A passion for social studies and a commitment to continuing education.

· Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

· Bachelor Degree with approved areas in Social Studies.

· Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.

· Fluent in English; written and oral communication.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Physical Demands: This is largely a sedentary role, requiring use of typical office equipment such as a computer and phone.

Work Environment: This job operates in a school setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets.

Travel: Occasional travel may be required.
