Certified School Social Worker – North Haledon, NJ

Horizon Staffing Resources is seeking a qualified Certified School Social Worker in North Haledon, NJ for long-term leave coverage. The Certified School Social Worker is responsible for supporting students and advocating for their emotional, mental, and physical wellbeing. Their duties include participating in IEP meetings, conducting social evaluations, and writing reports for IEPs. They will evaluate students and determine accommodations/modifications students need to succeed.

Hours/Schedule

· Monday through Friday

· 4-5 hours per day (hours flexible)

Responsibilities:

• Work as part of the Child Study Team
• Participate in IEP meetings and write IEPS reports
• Evaluate students and determine accommodations/modifications students need to succeed
• Communicate learning plans effectively by conducting parent meetings
• Administer assessments based on the student evaluation plan as determined in the identification or re-eligibility planning meeting
• Promote the general well-being of students
• Work with outside agencies to provide support to families
• Offer mentoring and suggestions for Teachers and other school personnel
• Develop and providing crisis intervention strategies to improve student success
• Work to maximize coping skills for students in difficult situations

Qualification Requirements

• Valid New Jersey LCSW or LMSW
• Valid School Social Worker certification
• Understanding of Child Study Team responsibilities, including social evaluations, IEP reports, and IEP meetings
• Previous experience evaluating students preferred
• Knowledge of laws and regulations governing special education
• Demonstrated ability to effectively assess children’s learning characteristics, design appropriate instructional strategies and plan educational programs
• Must be or willing to be fingerprinted by the New Jersey Board of Education (we reimburse!)
