A Software Project Manager position just opened in Pasadena, CA at the JPL/NASA facility. In this role, you will be part of the AI, Analytics, and Innovation Development Division to plan, organize, and oversee various software application development projects. Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years of experience or a Master’s degree with 1-2 years of experience.; and be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.

Position: Software Project Manager
Pay Rate: $60+/hr. on W2 (DOE)
Duration: 18 months
Work schedule: 1st Shift, 9/80

Job Responsibilities:
Design, implement, enhance and maintain enterprise-level solutions for systems such as Oracle, SAP, Peoplesoft, or Teamcenter in order to meet JPL’s strategic and tactical goals.
Utilizing software product development methodology and best business practices performs tasks such as gathering requirements, evaluating software, designing solutions that meet the needs of the JPL community and seamlessly integrate with the enterprise system, debugging and configuring applications, designing integrated test plans, conducting and coordinating integrated tests, and acting as a liaison to the JPL community throughout the entire life cycle of the product.
- Work with customers, stakeholders and performers to plan and execute complex software projects, on time and on budget.
- Will track milestones and deadlines and ensure situational awareness between project team, customer and stakeholders.
- Will work with developers and other Division resources to produce regular (monthly) reports on technical and financial status.
- Will organize project tasks at various levels of abstraction (high, medium, low) and prioritize and re-prioritize work as needed, based on customer requirements.
- Will interface with customers and stakeholders on behalf of the development team.
- Will work with Division leadership to highlight team performance and successes, as well as to proactively address any challenges or blockers.
Required Skills:
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years’ experience, or Master’s degree with 1-2 years’ experience.
- Strong knowledge of the software/application development lifecycle
- Experience in technical project management and delivery leadership
- Experience producing project management and task tracking templates as needed
- Experience with customer and stakeholder management (up to senior executive level)
- Experience with the following technologies: Jira, Github Project, MS Office Suite, enterprise project management software
- Ability to communicate risks, objectives, and trade-offs to the project
- Detailed oriented, excellent oral and written communication skills with a keen sense of customer service, capable of effectively capturing and communicating technical information at all levels, problem-solving attitude, team spirit.
- Self-starter, proactive, always on the lookout for improvements.
- Experience with software development in Cloud Native, AI/ML, IoT, AR/VR/xR, or Data Science products.
- Familiarity with working across agile software development as well as more traditional delivery methodologies
- Experience with delivering innovative software from inception to enterprise scale
- Experience with business development and portfolio management
