Software Test Engineer - Full Performance
Our client is seeking a highly motivated Software Test Engineer that works with minimal supervision/guidance to support the Weather Interactive Processing System program.
The candidate should have experience and knowledge with software testing, the ability to think critically and a proven track record of responsible task ownership and reliable execution. The candidate will work as a software tester as part of a larger team supporting the critical system used by the National Weather Service to successfully achieve their mission on a daily basis of protecting lives and property.
As the Test Engineer, you will interface with the whole SDLC team and ensure the quality of the release delivered to the customer.

The candidate will work as a software tester as part of a larger team supporting the critical system used by the National Weather Service to successfully achieve their mission on a daily basis of protecting lives and property.
As the Test Engineer, you will interface with the whole SDLC team and ensure the quality of the release delivered to the customer.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Executing and tracking status of tests throughout the lifecycle of a release.
- Participation in Agile scrum teams which include cross-functional members of the team.
- Collaboration with our NWS partners on system functionality as it pertains to requirements of the system.
- Maintaining the test suite, both automated and manual test cases.
- Assisting with investigations into issues reported in production for root cause isolation.
Clearance: US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a Public Trust - candidate must be able to pass a National Agency Check (NAC).
Mandatory Skills:
- Four (4) or more years directly related to software testing.
- NOTE: Strongly preferred weather / metrological testing background.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
- Working knowledge and understanding of a Linux OS.
- Background in weather or weather based systems,
Optional Skills:
- Experience with Test-Driven-Development (TDD)
- Working knowledge of JavaScript, Python and Bash Scripting.
- Demonstrated personal ownership of job responsibilities.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to correlate disparate data sources to identify systemic trends.
- Working knowledge, at a minimum, of the following: Redmine workflow management tool; Remedy Service management application; GIT distributed version-control system Command Line Interface (not GIT Hub web UI); Gerrit code collaboration tool, Jenkins automation server; SonarQube; QF-Test)
- Understanding of SAFe principles, especially with regards to test approach.
- Understanding of testing principles and tools
