Position Details:
Salary Starting at $49,270 (pay based on experience/education)
Day Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:00pm
Provide direct instruction, we are not teaching virtually/online
Assignment of a teacher’s assistant to your classroom to help maintain the physical, emotional well-being and safety of all students

Located on a beautiful 10-acre campus in the heart of Scottsdale, Devereux Arizona’s 24-hour RTC and Therapeutic School, has the capacity to serve 52 children. The RTC is a safe and supportive environment that provides youth, from the ages of 5 to 17, who are experiencing emotional, behavioral or substance abuse challenges. We also provide an on-site accredited K-12 therapeutic school, which offers an academic curriculum while students receive intensive behavioral and emotional support.

As a Special Education Teacher, you will plan and implement therapeutic instructional programs and provide students with the emotional and/or behavioral support to meet their individual educational needs. Our classroom structure is designed to match students’ needs through an interdisciplinary approach and an individual plan designed for each student.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field required and AZ Emotional Disability Special Education certification required
  • Understanding of learning theories related to working with multiple handicapped individuals
  • One (1) year experience teaching in a Special Education classroom preferred
  • Experience with teaching kids from K-12 preferred
OTHER:
  • Must attend the required two (2) weeks paid New Hire Orientation; Mon-Fri (8:30am-5:00pm)
  • Valid Arizona Driver's License & pass DMV 39-month history check
  • Current AZ Fingerprint Clearance Card with no restrictions (or eligibility to obtain with no restrictions)
  • Pre-employment Physical and Job Demand Assessment (if applicable)
  • Drug test within 24hrs of offer w/ negative results
  • Devereux requires all individuals interviewing for a position involving contact with children to complete The Diana Screen, a screening that assesses a candidate’s understanding of appropriate boundaries between adults and children
